I can't see
I had an interview in mid-January 2024. The interviewer looked at my work experience and said that the equipment installation in my previous industry was very simple and not technical at all compared with theirs?
I'm dying laughing. My previous industry even has specialized departments at national universities in northern Taiwan, with master's and doctoral degrees, as well as professional licenses out there. What do you know?
You're selling water heaters and water purifiers—what are you acting so cocky about? XD
It really makes me question the level of Sakura's staff.
Then they said salespeople have to drive 40,000–50,000 kilometers a year. Wow, with that kind of cost depreciation and this kind of pay, what a value proposition XD?
Except that the guaranteed minimum is very low, the other benefits are fairly good. There are gifts or cash bonuses for the three major holidays, a monthly birthday celebration with a cash gift, mid-year profit sharing and a year-end bonus. Most of the benefits you would expect are available. After work, you do not need to return to the company to clock out; you can simply send a message saying you have finished work in the LINE group chat.
Although Sakura's products are all things used in everyday life, there are so many types of products, and each product has so many models, with different functions for each model, that it is absolutely impossible to become familiar with them in just three months or half a year. There are also benefit programs for products and benefit programs for customers. The product benefit programs are further divided into six or seven types; some can be combined and some cannot. Direct-sale prices cannot be counted as part of a benefit program, but they can count toward the number of units sold. The benefit programs for water purifiers are also different from the others. Although these benefit programs are useful tools for increasing sales, just dealing with them can make you question your life. More importantly, the guaranteed minimum for sales staff is even lower than the NT$26,400 required by the Labor Standards Act. At first, I thought I had misheard, but it was not until I attended the course on the salary structure that I confirmed the guaranteed minimum really was much lower than NT$26,400. Although salespeople rely on performance to boost their income, this was the first time I had encountered such a low guaranteed minimum. In short, it is very suitable for newcomers to gain experience. After working at Yingxin, any other company will seem easy by comparison, because it is difficult to encounter sales work as traditional and complicated as this again. By the way, new employees have to attend two weeks of training, during which they cannot go out, and they also have to write reflections and take exams.
This is a sharing from someone who has been through it. I wanted to share Yingxin's system and job duties with everyone first, because interviewers usually do not explain them in much detail.
The salary is very appealing.
1. During the interview process, my résumé and some tests had already been completed, and I was prepared to interview with the manager. However, I was then told that the manager was not available and that they would notify me another day to come in for an interview! Then why did you tell me on the phone that the supervisor was available and that I could come for an interview?
2. Later, I thought, fine, and two days afterward I received another call asking me to come in for an interview. Okay, no problem! When I arrived, I was told that the manager had a guest and asked me to wait a little while. Fine, no problem! Without exaggeration, I waited nearly 40 minutes before they finally called me upstairs for the interview!
The interview lasted less than five minutes before I left!
Manager: Do you know that at our company, you have to ride your own motorcycle around to handle repairs, traveling from place to place? (The farthest location is Nantou.)
Me: No, I didn't know!
Manager: Didn't the woman [who contacted you] tell you?
Me: No, she didn't!
Manager: I thought you could accept these job duties, which is why I asked you to come for a second interview.
Me: If I had known, I wouldn't have come!
That's it—they wasted my time.....
What kind of company is Yingxin Industrial, and what does it do...? If I say SAKURA water heaters, everyone should understand.
I worked as a technician for more than a year. The senior technicians at the company were all very nice; whenever I had questions, they always answered them.
The working hours are very flexible. After preparing the materials in the morning, the rest of the time is yours. If you work quickly, the remaining time is yours as well.
There are six days off per month (which apparently doesn’t really count as a benefit). Pay is calculated by service calls, and with enough effort, you can earn more than NT$30,000 per month (even right after becoming a regular employee).
Since the company is under a large corporation, the benefits are also fairly good.
They often treat employees to food and drinks, especially at the beginning and end of the year, when management holds gatherings and pays for everyone (...I went to Chao Gang Cheng several times).
1. Based on the information above, there appear to be violations of the Labor Standards Act, but there have still been no improvements. Since there are policies above and countermeasures below, whenever things get busy, they can make you work until 8 or 9 p.m. There is no such thing as overtime pay, which effectively means working from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
2. Sometimes you need to accommodate customers’ schedules. If all of your service calls happen to be available only in the evening, you can only get off work late.
3. About 30% of the service calls each month require a return trip because not enough parts were brought along. The basic parts you need to carry are numerous, and I also hadn’t saved enough money to buy a vehicle.
4. If you count them up, there are about 27 townships, counties, and cities, while there are only six service technicians. That means each person is responsible for four to six areas. The territory is large, and with apprentices constantly coming and going, it becomes somewhat overwhelming (this was the main reason I resigned).
5. There are many dangerous road conditions when traveling for service calls. By the time I recently left, three or four accidents had occurred within the company, but this was not surprising, given the need to rush to finish the work.
6. Since repair technicians work year-round without days off, you have to take turns working on holidays.
7. There are many products, and each type has a great many models, which can be confusing. You also need to remember how to replace the parts. Installation must be completed by one person because service calls are handled alone.
8. There is a morning meeting once a week and a monthly meeting once a month. People are randomly selected to go on stage and share their experiences. If you want to practice your public speaking, you can give it a try. But everyone is already so busy every day—when is there time to read? Those selected basically just read their impressions from a book, so what is the point?
Conclusion: This job pays well, but there is a lot of work and it is far from home. It is suitable for people without family obligations who are willing and able to endure hard work.
