Pros

What kind of company is Yingxin Industrial, and what does it do...? If I say SAKURA water heaters, everyone should understand.

I worked as a technician for more than a year. The senior technicians at the company were all very nice; whenever I had questions, they always answered them.

The working hours are very flexible. After preparing the materials in the morning, the rest of the time is yours. If you work quickly, the remaining time is yours as well.

There are six days off per month (which apparently doesn’t really count as a benefit). Pay is calculated by service calls, and with enough effort, you can earn more than NT$30,000 per month (even right after becoming a regular employee).

Since the company is under a large corporation, the benefits are also fairly good.

They often treat employees to food and drinks, especially at the beginning and end of the year, when management holds gatherings and pays for everyone (...I went to Chao Gang Cheng several times).

Cons

1. Based on the information above, there appear to be violations of the Labor Standards Act, but there have still been no improvements. Since there are policies above and countermeasures below, whenever things get busy, they can make you work until 8 or 9 p.m. There is no such thing as overtime pay, which effectively means working from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Sometimes you need to accommodate customers’ schedules. If all of your service calls happen to be available only in the evening, you can only get off work late.

3. About 30% of the service calls each month require a return trip because not enough parts were brought along. The basic parts you need to carry are numerous, and I also hadn’t saved enough money to buy a vehicle.

4. If you count them up, there are about 27 townships, counties, and cities, while there are only six service technicians. That means each person is responsible for four to six areas. The territory is large, and with apprentices constantly coming and going, it becomes somewhat overwhelming (this was the main reason I resigned).

5. There are many dangerous road conditions when traveling for service calls. By the time I recently left, three or four accidents had occurred within the company, but this was not surprising, given the need to rush to finish the work.

6. Since repair technicians work year-round without days off, you have to take turns working on holidays.

7. There are many products, and each type has a great many models, which can be confusing. You also need to remember how to replace the parts. Installation must be completed by one person because service calls are handled alone.

8. There is a morning meeting once a week and a monthly meeting once a month. People are randomly selected to go on stage and share their experiences. If you want to practice your public speaking, you can give it a try. But everyone is already so busy every day—when is there time to read? Those selected basically just read their impressions from a book, so what is the point?

Conclusion: This job pays well, but there is a lot of work and it is far from home. It is suitable for people without family obligations who are willing and able to endure hard work.
