Long working hours. There is also an inner circle among the senior employees. With the backing of the family business, mistakes made by the inner circle are simply laughed off, while others get scolded under the guise of handling things strictly according to work procedures. You may even be questioned about things that are not your responsibility or be made a scapegoat. On top of that, upper management clearly treats attractive female colleagues differently in the way they speak to them. Senior employees lose their tempers for no apparent reason, and even when they have not done their jobs properly, they can brush it off with a joke. We new hires are basically disposable employees; as long as they are happy, nothing else matters. There is no clock-in system, so overtime is treated as if it does not exist. Even after closing, there is a pile of work for new employees to do, while nobody else helps, as if it were our duty.
In short, it is an awful place: a family business with inner circles. Whenever something unreasonable happens, the new employees are blamed. Once you get through the new-hire period, if you do not talk like the inner circle, nobody gives you the time of day.

I called the woman in Taichung to arrange an interview time, but the location for the in-person interview was actually in Kaohsiung. That was already very bizarre.
After we agreed on a time, I showed up punctually the next day, but the staff on site seemed to have absolutely no idea about it. I even asked whether there was somewhere I could sit and wait for a moment, and the receptionist actually frowned at me and said, “No!” Isn’t that just basic hospitality?
That aside, the interviewer appeared after I had waited for about two minutes. She was a slightly chubby woman with tattoos. There was no private interview room or anything; it was extremely casual. She interviewed me standing in a corner near the cashier, and we both stood throughout the entire interview. It was incredibly bizarre.
That aside, she also seemed completely unprepared. She held a sheet with the interview information, salary and benefits, and so on, and read it to me line by line straight from the script. Did she think I couldn’t read Chinese characters? Or was she really completely unprepared? Haha. Because when I later checked the messages on 104, they hadn’t even read the message confirming the interview time we had arranged. I was speechless.
Before the interview, I had prepared a lot of questions and done plenty of research, but her attitude when answering made me feel that it didn’t matter to her whether I was there or not. So I simply stopped talking, said I had no questions, and left. Heh.
This is a company with extremely chaotic systems and handovers. Judging by the reception staff, who all looked overworked, slightly yellow-faced, and physically weak, you really shouldn’t apply to this company unless you have nothing better to do.

The interviewers' quality is terrible... If you don't know how to conduct an interview, you really shouldn't come out and embarrass yourself... I guess they must be the boss's relatives...

Newcomers are immediately treated as cleaners. The workplace is chronically understaffed, and even the routine cleaning that should normally be done is simply assigned to new employees. Tasks that should be divided between two people are handled by one person, while senior employees just sit at the counter chatting and watching you work. Because of the staff shortage, senior employees never proactively volunteer to clean; whenever a newcomer arrives, they are immediately told to handle the major cleaning tasks that were left undone during understaffed periods. If you didn’t know better, you would think you had applied for a cleaning position.
Newcomers generally put up with this for a few days before quitting, and the cycle continues indefinitely. On top of that, they are terrible at training new employees. There is no SOP— they tell you things only as they think of them. They briefly tell you where items are located in the warehouse, then send you off alone to restock. I don’t even know which items are out of stock or which ones should be restocked first, so how am I supposed to restock anything? Some items have been missing from the shelves for a long time, and if they are out of stock in the warehouse, no one tells you; they just let you search around cluelessly. Then, later on, they tell you that you can check inventory on the computer. It really makes you want to punch them. The worst part is that the computer inventory is not necessarily accurate either. There are many items listed as in stock on the computer that are actually unavailable in the warehouse. When you tell the senior employees, they don’t believe you and assume that you simply couldn’t find them.
I sincerely advise anyone considering working there to think twice. If you don’t have a strong enough mindset, you really shouldn’t go. During my time working there, I often felt like beating them up. Fortunately, I have fairly good emotional-management skills. Seriously, enter at your own risk.
The only advantage is probably that the company can cover employees’ dinners costing up to NT$95...

It gives new hires absolutely no honeymoon period; even the slightest mistake will get them harshly berated.
Sometimes it feels like the boss deliberately looks for reasons to berate people when they are in a bad mood.
They treat employees as emotional punching bags, and the managers have extremely poor emotional intelligence.
There is no SOP or established process for any of the work there; everything is extremely disorganized. They also make arbitrary deductions from employees’ pay, and the salaries are not high.
Every conversation with the boss, the boss’s wife, the boss’s relatives, and the boss’s close friends must be documented and retained, making it very easy for them to find any excuse to pin the blame on employees.
What they say also lacks any logic. They often forget what they themselves have said, then blame employees when they are wrong. They constantly change their instructions, and even when transferring employees to another branch, they do not communicate with them.
In short, anyone who is not sufficiently submissive should absolutely not join—they will regret it!!!

By all means, do not join this company. The policies are terrible: no annual leave, no holiday bonuses, and even the basic working environment is awful. I received a phone call saying I was being laid off for no reason, with no warning or explanation—simply because the boss was unhappy. The pay is extremely low, and overtime is mandatory. People come and go constantly; the company cannot retain anyone. They would rather hire a bunch of disposable employees than raise salaries and develop their staff. Once they have used you up, they kick you aside when the time is up. Don't make the wrong choice—there are better jobs out there. Whatever you do, don't step on this landmine.
