Pros

1- Very close to the MRT station, with convenient transportation

2- There is everything you might want to eat nearby, so you don’t have to walk too far

3- The building’s administrators are very friendly and helpful

4- The owner of the parent company is an excellent cook, and there is occasionally afternoon tea

(Unfortunately, she is not often in Taipei)

Cons

This is one of the subsidiaries, with only two veteran employees (if you are the next new hire, congratulations—you will be the third person).

After joining the company, you will discover that the workload is extremely heavy—far more than what two or three employees should handle—and most tasks must be completed independently.

One of the senior colleagues very clearly has an “old hand” attitude and will not proactively help you.

There are more than a dozen online platforms to work with. From the basic daily tasks of retrieving orders, printing orders, picking/packing/shipping, processing returns, providing online/telephone customer service, graphic design, listing and delisting products, managing product inventory, and occasionally assisting with marketing, to various other trivial tasks, you have to handle everything yourself.

Both senior colleagues are set in their ways and do not really know how to adapt or digitize their work.

Many things have to be handwritten, manually recorded, or printed out on a large stack of colored A4 sheets.

This means spending a great deal of time doing inefficient work, and they also require you to do things the same way,

which makes their level of professionalism seem clearly inadequate.

As for the salary, it consists of the minimum wage plus bonuses under various names, so the amount you receive may vary from month to month. The unstable pay is one of the reasons for leaving, but it is the “people” aspect that is ultimately the biggest reason one cannot stay at this company for long.

Pros

Close to the MRT station

After you leave, they are more willing to communicate; if you notice that you were underpaid, let them know and they will make up the difference immediately.

Cons

1. The supervisor lacks professionalism and does things using outdated methods. They insist that all documents be printed instead of digitized, and when something needs to be looked up, they ask you to search through piles of waste paper.

2. The senior colleague takes advantage of being a veteran to dump all the work on you, while spending work hours browsing Facebook, reading articles, and booking hotels for trips. Then they criticize you for being inefficient. They will assign you tasks A, B, C, and D all at once, then ask a few minutes later whether C is finished. They never tell you the order or priority, yet accuse you of not knowing how to distinguish urgency and importance. Every day, they tap away on their little keyboard, reporting minor issues about you to their supervisor.

3. The atmosphere is dull and lifeless. The workplace is quiet, with no radio or music. Sometimes you can see the senior colleague chatting with their mother on the phone when the supervisor is away.

4. The supervisor and the senior colleague are very close. Even when the senior colleague makes a serious mistake, the supervisor is tolerant, but shows zero tolerance toward everyone else and constantly bad-mouths you behind your back.

5. They keep assigning you an assistant’s duties, then mock you by saying that your position is planner, not assistant. After that, they hand you a website with zero traffic and demand that you generate 300,000 in revenue per month—otherwise, what was the point of hiring you?

6. If you feel there is too much work, they will hire an assistant to share your workload, then start humiliating you in front of the assistant, using tasks you do not know how to do to pressure you into leaving.

7. They treat delivery workers in a domineering and rude manner, looking down on them. If things do not go their way, they make complaint calls in the quiet office, shouting loudly.

8. There is no overtime pay; if the work is not finished, it is considered your problem.

9. The monthly salary is the statutory minimum wage plus bonuses and allowances under other labels, so no matter how high your monthly salary is, the year-end bonus will only be 22K.
