Pros

1. Once the project is basically completed, handling personal matters is generally not a problem.

2. After a change in management, the company adopted a more people-oriented management style.

3. The workspace is clean and bright, but the 110 cm-long desks are relatively small.

4. There are afternoon snacks to look forward to every Wednesday.

5. Computers are provided, so you do not need to prepare your own.

6. Technical discussions are harmonious, and weekly technical sharing is also included in the weekly meeting. You can train your presentation skills at the same time.

7. Funding is provided for online courses.

8. People with ability but no experience are welcome to join.

9. There are occasional, non-periodic group meals.

10. Taking leave is easy, and the policy is better than required by the Labor Standards Act.

11. There are managers with extensive experience in agile processes.

12. The organization is flat, providing opportunities to learn many things.

13. All-you-can-eat snacks (though one supply may last three months).

Cons

1. There is no stable salary adjustment mechanism.

2. I have not heard of any salary adjustment mechanism either.

3. There is no PM.

4. When senior management paints an overly rosy picture, they are not drawing a fake one—they are drawing a Northeastern-style flatbread, unbelievably huge.

5. Just take what the chairman says with a grain of salt; the chairman is not the decision-maker.

6. Once employee trips and health checkups are gone, they are gone.

7. Year-end bonuses were allocated according to projects (before the management change).

8. All the technically strong people have left.

9. The projects I am responsible for have never increased.

10. There is no employee welfare committee. You watch people in the group receive gifts for the three major holidays, while you get only one box of pomelos.

11. It is very cramped when all the seats are occupied—but they are not.

12. There is no mechanism for reviewing employee performance. (A highly problematic employee was never dealt with, leaving many loopholes that later employees had to spend pointless time fixing.) There is no way to know why you received a corresponding reward.

13. The company claims to take on app development projects, but the testing devices are clearly insufficient (it does not even have an iPhone 11 or a Pixel 5).

Pros

The company’s management recently underwent a major reshuffle. For the situation before the reshuffle, you can refer to the previous anonymous comments :x

1. The office environment is bright.

2. Human-centered management and a relatively flat organization. Basically, any situation can be discussed and communicated.

3. The team members are all very young, and the work atmosphere is relaxed and harmonious.

4. Fresh graduates and newcomers who have just completed training are welcome to join and hone their skills, because at present, all they can afford to offer is bananas.

Cons

1. You must record that day’s working hours in detail in the system every day (in hours—eight hours a day, you know), and for some projects, because of the client, you may need to write them up as short essays.

2. The company hopes to transform from a project-outsourcing company into a product company, but product planning has remained at the stage where a senior executive at the parent company is making lofty promises and drawing grandiose visions.

3. The current CTO of the development team is basically a troublemaker. He is a fairly strong engineer, but clearly not a good manager.

Pros

The windows are very large, with a view of planes taking off and landing—if there are still any planes taking off and landing, that is.

Cons

1. A contracting company that “looks like” it has very large projects and is a very large company.

2. Employees were laid off before Lunar New Year’s Eve and were not given year-end bonuses. The statement made during the interview that the year-end bonus would be at least one month’s salary was completely false.

3. The year-end bonus received by employees who were not laid off depends on which project they are assigned to. The more difficult and unreasonable the project, the smaller the year-end bonus.

4. The one-month year-end bonus is actually discounted by 15%; the withheld portion will not be paid until July.

5. The company has no backend team at all.

6. All relevant data has to be provided by the client. If the client is not punctual or provides incorrect information, causing delays in development or testing, that is considered your responsibility.

7. When the data is incomplete or backend data cannot be obtained, making it impossible to conduct development or testing properly, all bugs are blamed on the developers and testers.

8. Overtime is compensated with time off in lieu, but whether you can actually take it is unknown, and it is not converted into overtime pay.

9. When being forced out, employees are required to sign a voluntary resignation. Unused annual leave is not converted into cash. According to the agreement, the salary paid for the month of forced resignation was not even paid in full for one month, and overtime pay was also not provided. It was only after leaving, the following month, that I discovered the amount paid was fundamentally incorrect.

Regarding salary:

If you are simply working for the sake of keeping busy and are willing to accept a bachelor’s-level salary despite having a master’s degree,

or if you are a senior engineer but receive only an entry-level engineer’s salary,

then this company may be worth considering.

But if you want to receive a salary commensurate with your responsibilities, it is better not to waste your time.
