Pros

You can play with cats

Cons

You get fined at the drop of a hat. Supervisors nitpick and impose fines however they please; even the smallest details can result in a penalty. Yet when supervisors make mistakes, they always give themselves a pass. They can clock in and work without wearing a necktie, but if a subordinate does the same, it is treated as a serious offense and they may be fined. When supervisors forget to record something, they can simply say they were busy and forgot; when subordinates forget, they have to write a self-criticism report or be fined. There is little leave. They say you can arrange days off, but even if you schedule annual leave, you may not actually be allowed to take it. Working hours are said to be 8.75 hours, but in practice they often exceed that. They say overtime can be reported, but in reality reports are rejected, and then they say they hope this kind of culture will not continue. The salary is not particularly high either. It feels as though employees are expected to sell themselves to the company. Supervisors constantly encourage employees to spend money because they need to boost the average transaction value. At first, I expected it to be a company founded by young people and was told that opinions and innovative ideas were welcome, but in reality, some supervisors behave like control freaks and want to control every trivial matter. They only want to assert themselves and leave others no room to develop. They are completely complicit in Taiwan’s harsh workplace environment. Absolutely terrible.

Pros

The work and salary are fairly reasonable, and the environment is good.

Cons

The company does not pay overtime.

During the interview, they presented themselves as positive, proactive, and willing to communicate. However, after actually working for one and a half months, they never mentioned any areas for improvement. Then, three days before the end of the month, they informed me that I was not a good fit (I was told before the end of work on Friday, and Monday was my last day). When I pressed for the reason, they only said that my personality was not suitable.

On my last day, I also discovered that a message I had sent to my supervisor the previous day requesting leave had not been read or answered, while two new employees had joined the company group chat. This made me suspect that the situation involved either nepotism or that they were seeking a better candidate while keeping me as a backup.

Do you have to sign a one-year contract?? If you break the contract, do you have to pay the company.....

When you go for the interview, there is an exam paper to complete (essay and multiple-choice questions). It feels a lot like taking an exam at school; they ask many questions and then require you to present your thoughts.

Personally, I feel they do not respect interviewees very much. They originally said they would email the hiring notification within five days, but after delaying it to seven days, they still had not given an answer. Later, I had to email them myself to ask, and they replied that they had not given an answer because the internet connection was unstable... (I don't know whether that's true, but a networking pet company saying its internet connection was unstable... do you believe that???) If you feel your time isn't worth money, you can try seeing how efficient this company is.
