Cons

You get fined at the drop of a hat. Supervisors nitpick and impose fines however they please; even the smallest details can result in a penalty. Yet when supervisors make mistakes, they always give themselves a pass. They can clock in and work without wearing a necktie, but if a subordinate does the same, it is treated as a serious offense and they may be fined. When supervisors forget to record something, they can simply say they were busy and forgot; when subordinates forget, they have to write a self-criticism report or be fined. There is little leave. They say you can arrange days off, but even if you schedule annual leave, you may not actually be allowed to take it. Working hours are said to be 8.75 hours, but in practice they often exceed that. They say overtime can be reported, but in reality reports are rejected, and then they say they hope this kind of culture will not continue. The salary is not particularly high either. It feels as though employees are expected to sell themselves to the company. Supervisors constantly encourage employees to spend money because they need to boost the average transaction value. At first, I expected it to be a company founded by young people and was told that opinions and innovative ideas were welcome, but in reality, some supervisors behave like control freaks and want to control every trivial matter. They only want to assert themselves and leave others no room to develop. They are completely complicit in Taiwan’s harsh workplace environment. Absolutely terrible.
