A certain manager likes to abuse his authority and verbally harass female employees. Privately, he claims to keep personal and professional matters separate, but his words are contradictory and inconsistent, and his values are confused. He speaks differently depending on whom he is addressing; in any case, as long as something serves his own interests and helps secure his own job, that is all that matters. Anyone who does not cooperate with him is supposedly the employee’s problem—he is never at fault.

This person, who likes to bully people verbally and put on a superficial show, has reportedly been arrogant to an extreme since working part-time in college, making all the employees he previously supervised afraid of him. Although he has changed positions—he previously worked in a factory—his way of thinking is still no different from that of a factory. He does not improve himself, yet blames the employees instead. He abuses the trust his boss places in him, pressures his subordinates, and has an incredibly thick skin.

People with strong nerves should consider joining this company; otherwise, there is a high chance you will encounter him. The things he says will absolutely turn your worldview upside down, and he changes orders constantly, all for the sake of the brand rather than himself.

P.S. Only supervisors receive overtime pay; subordinates do not. This is an overt violation of the Labor Standards Act, after which he shifts the blame to the administration department—like a thief shouting, “Stop, thief!”

Before coming in for the interview, I forgot to ask why the previous person had resigned. After joining and asking about it recently, the manager of the new department put on a pitiful act: “It’s all my fault, okay?”

Then he started complaining about the two product designers and the graphic designer, making it sound as though he had been bullied or deliberately targeted by two colleagues, and that things went wrong because they would not communicate with him.

Only later, when carrying out the work, did he reveal his true colors. He constantly made sarcastic remarks, belittled, looked down on, and scolded people. He pretended to understand things he did not understand, had a two-faced personality, and was indeed an old hand who was very good at wearing a mask.

He would also use his authority privately to pressure you into helping him with miscellaneous tasks. Once they were done, he would start drawing a strict line between public and private matters and continue putting on airs. He takes advantage of people shamelessly. A despicable person who is overly affected: he has no special expertise, but has thick enough skin to manage people, and ingratiates himself with the boss, which is why he can stay for so long.

Later, I also heard that he had unpleasant incidents with the management department and the former driver. He appears honest on the surface, but in reality his words are barbed and sarcastic. He would not let the driver have a reasonable time to eat, and also liked creating inconveniences for other colleagues, then blamed it on “because the work makes it impossible.” So how is that not a problem with your character?

I’m getting ready to leave this hellhole—88. Taiwanese workers do not want to come, so they can only recruit Vietnamese workers, treating people like livestock and managing them in a corrugated-metal building like a concentration camp.

If the supervisor is like this, of course the boss is no better. He is emotional and irrational in all sorts of ways and impossible to communicate with, a match for this manager. He complains constantly. The senior managers on this level of the new department are basically all men. Although there are female employees, it is obvious that men rule the workplace. Of course, the company would never admit it, so their speech naturally lets slip some disrespectful and objectifying attitudes toward women, along with dirty jokes and similar remarks.

All the senior managers here have a smoking habit. The company has no designated smoking area, so they all smoke in the pantry. You often end up inhaling secondhand smoke, while also having to remain superficially polite and ingratiating. Products are frequently revised and rejected, and staying too long will leave you mentally unwell and depressed. The previous person and I both experienced this, and it later affected our physical health. Think carefully before joining; there is no occupational injury compensation.

The job here requires very high IQ and EQ, because although the new department in this traditional industry appears to hope that the team will communicate with one another, in reality communication is impossible. If they tell you to produce something, you have to produce it immediately, as if you were working in a factory, and there is no room to negotiate or discuss things with the client.

If you cannot adapt, that is your problem. The superior has no problem, because they have been here a long time and have more experience than you, understand?

Any other questions? Hmph.

Summary: A garbage concentration camp of a company, a waste-recycling and processing facility.

There are two supervisors who are very slick with the boss. On the surface, they do not put on airs, but in reality they use both soft and hard tactics with subordinates. At first, they treated employees using the factory’s way of doing things; later, they subjected them to all kinds of criticism and deliberately difficult attitude tests. Their management was completely disorganized. In the end, they judged efficiency without reflecting on whether there was a problem with their own communication skills, and eventually even expected employees to take the blame themselves. They are irresponsible supervisors: clearly wanting to force someone out, difficult to communicate with, and still claiming that it is the employee’s own problem.

One plays the good cop and the other the bad cop. The good cop does not handle matters himself and expects others to arrange everything for him. He assigns unprofitable projects to employees and handles profitable ones himself.

The bad cop speaks in a sexist way and is irritating, long-winded, morally coercive, and emotionally manipulative. He does not pay overtime (he gets it himself, but employees do not). By evaluating subordinates’ efficiency, he demands that they reflect on themselves—specifically, why they are asking for overtime pay. He has repeatedly violated the Labor Standards Act, yet shifts the blame to the administrative department.

He does not clearly state what he wants, harms project efficiency, and then blames subordinates. He wants to drive people out while keeping himself in place; after exploiting people, he also ostracizes them. He competes with the administrative department to see who is worse at dealing with people, with both sides shirking responsibility and outdoing each other in incompetence. They are hypocritical, constantly testing others, disrespectful, and extremely lacking in class.

Do not assume that only female employees form cliques and exclude people. There are plenty of male supervisors here who engage in intrigues and sacrifice frontline employees, yet they only criticize women—people in glass houses should not throw stones. The automotive industry basically objectifies and looks down on women. Men are likely to have an easier time getting hired here; those considering applying should take that into account. There is little opportunity for promotion here. As long as the old-timers remain, you can forget about it.

Because the factory offers poor compensation, all the local Taiwanese workers have left, leaving only Vietnamese workers. Vietnamese workers are hired for filming and given cheap red envelopes. The conditions for office staff are not much better either. The boss’s wife is very irritating; you have to be extremely polite when dealing with her. She treats employees like children. I suggest studying some management theory before managing employees. Stop using emotional manipulation all the time and treating employees like idiots. You demand etiquette but do not understand mutual respect. The company will never improve.
