Do not go to work there under any circumstances. You will be bullied in the workplace by Lin Xiurong, who has worked there for more than 30 years, as well as by the graphic designer. Lin Xiurong works there as a special assistant (because she is entangled in lawsuits and cannot serve as vice president, she can only hold the title of special assistant). She has no marketing or public relations skills, but because she has been there for so long, she was put in charge of the marketing and sales departments. The company owner will not intervene out of consideration for her, so Lin Xiurong is in charge of all sorts of matters throughout the company, and no one dares to stand up for justice. She treats almost all colleagues very harshly (she is only relatively friendly with two people in her department whom she has worked with for a longer time. She buys them lunch and panders to the graphic designer and female PM colleague, and does not dare require them to work seriously. If the graphic designer says she will not create a design, then she does not create one. For “the entire day,” the office is filled with Lin Xiurong’s angry shouting and scolding. Anything can be unfairly blamed on the “colleagues who are easy to bully.” Lin Xiurong praises your writing today, saying it is pretty good, but the next day the veteran graphic designer says she does not like the article, and Lin Xiurong will scold you: “How could you write such a terrible article?” If you say a few words to other colleagues, you will be angrily scolded: “What were you talking about with the other colleagues? How can you chat at work?” …and so on—countless frightening and shocking stories.

I personally experienced several months of workplace bullying. Going into the office every day felt like entering hell. I was afraid to speak to her—even to hand over work—because anything I said could get me yelled at. I also could not chat with my colleagues, because they were afraid to talk to me too, worried that they would be blacklisted or that Lin Xiurong would dislike them. Finally, one day I gathered the courage to report the workplace bullying to the labor department. Only then did the vice president step in to mediate and agree to issue documentation of involuntary termination so that I could receive unemployment benefits. (It was completely impossible to tell during the interview. Lin Xiurong is a middle-aged woman who “appears” very friendly and will say things like, “I really admire you and like you!”)

I don't know

Cons

I was interviewed by someone who I didn’t know whether they were really an HR manager or not. It was a very unpleasant experience. If you felt it wasn’t going to work out, you really didn’t have to casually find a colleague to conduct the interview. It was speechless and a very unpleasant experience.

I applied for a sales assistant position. The posting on 104 said that no experience was required, and since I wanted to change career paths, I went. As soon as I arrived, I was asked to start doing Sudoku, writing answers to situational essay questions, ranking calculus problems, and signing a bunch of strange declarations (such as consenting to my interview data being retained by related subsidiaries, and a declaration guaranteeing that I had not broken the law, stating that if I had, I agreed to pay compensation...), among other things. The materials alone amounted to more than five pages. HR also kept coming over to ask whether I was finished yet. Finally, the supervisor came in and the first thing he said was, “No experience? Not considering you.” Fuck, I had spent two hours doing math problems and writing essay answers for nothing.

Pros

I’ve been with the company for a year and a half and have gained a lot of practical experience. Anyone interested in the food industry can come here to build their skills, and promotions happen quickly.

1. The company focuses on the sesame industry, which has promising future prospects.

2. Although it is a traditional industry, the company is actively expanding its e-commerce channels and developing different customer segments.

3. The company culture is straightforward, with no factional problems. Everyone is kind and friendly.

4. The outbreak of the pandemic showed the company’s stability. The company cares about employees’ health and responds quickly to changing epidemic-prevention needs, for example, by arranging remote work, providing paid vaccination leave, and offering epidemic-prevention bonuses.

Cons

1. Employees have to take turns doing cleaning duty.

2. There is no flexibility in working hours.

Pros

There really aren't any; some colleagues are easy to get along with.

Cons

The newly appointed chairman wants to innovate the brand but does not understand the B2C market. Every week, they also invite a consultant who claims to have retired from China GlaxoSmithKline to listen to strange theories. Moreover, things change every week: if the consultant says to go with Amway, they go with Amway, and the sales targets are adjusted at any time. They completely fail to understand that product promotion should be divided according to the seasons. The agreed-upon salary actually requires adding the perfect-attendance bonus to reach the stated amount. Senior management internally likes to use scolding to provide work guidance, with unprofessional people giving instructions. In conclusion: as long as this company can push responsibility onto people below them, or onto vendors, everything is fine. Not a single person in senior management takes responsibility; those who could have done so have all left. From the chairman down to the vice president's assistant, everyone is accustomed to passing the buck and does not trust professionalism.

It's just an average food industry company; it feels like an old-fashioned culture. The Taipei office is their e-commerce department.

Cons

What era are we living in? Applying for a marketing position and they're still testing Word, Excel, and typing speed? After the interview, they actually had me sit down at a computer and Photoshop an image. Why not just test whether I know how to assemble a computer while they're at it? ... Speechless.
