Pros

Is having absolutely no system considered an advantage? It varies from good to bad, but you can leave work on time.

There is no perfect-attendance pressure, and free meals are provided—but they are only ever more unpalatable; there is no such thing as the worst-tasting one.

Cons

The year-end bonus depends on the mood of management. Some colleagues received only 600, and there is basically nothing for the three major holidays—not even a Labor Day bonus anymore.

Someone will secretly monitor you from behind while you work, and using your phone is prohibited. Break time is effectively taken back by requiring you to start work earlier and shortening your lunch break.

You have to clock in and out four times a day. Clocking in at 12:45 p.m. means you are effectively forced to work an extra 10 minutes every day, with no salary adjustment.

Pros

The work is split between the third and first floors. The colleagues and section chief on the third floor are pretty good and will teach you things. (But I rarely went to the third floor.)

Cons

Unfortunately, I was assigned to the first floor, where there was no private space in the work environment. Whether senior colleagues would guide you depended on whether you had a connection with them. Since I had not been with the company long, only the supervisor and the owner were left; everyone else had already left. The big boss was all talk and would verbally humiliate people (though I heard he has toned it down a lot). The supervisor also would not train new employees (probably afraid of being replaced). In the end, I felt that I had not learned much and had wasted my time, so I resigned.

Pros

A family business; the chairman and his younger son are still okay. It feels like working with them is pretty good.

Cons

The turnover rate in the Middle East team is extremely high.

Be prepared to deal with people who are moody, constantly change their minds, are forgetful, delusional, and/or have bipolar disorder.

You may frequently be verbally humiliated and threatened; women should be careful about sexual harassment.
