I heard that this company is going to become an employee of a certain entity under its umbrella. Former employees were not paid on payday, and various contact information was deleted. It operates more efficiently than before; the company is completely different before and after the interview, with excessive overtime and no overtime pay (they believe you were simply unable to complete the work within the allotted time). Think carefully.

Pros

1. Cats to play with

2. Overseas employee trip every year

Cons

The position involves working as a design assistant. Since I didn’t have much experience, I started as an assistant, and they asked about my willingness to do so during the interview.

If you really like design, have high standards for your own work, or hope to have a boss who genuinely understands design, this company may be worth considering.

From what I observed, the company focuses on commercial design. There are opportunities to work on all kinds of designs. The projects are stable, with clients ranging from large, well-known companies to ordinary brands and businesses. There are also opportunities to work on printing-related projects here.

The design department’s bookcase contains many portfolios from overseas, and new ones are purchased every year for everyone to look at. If you run out of inspiration halfway through a project, you can flip through the books.

The work here is purely design-related; you won’t be asked to do miscellaneous errands, so you have room to make use of your strengths.

However, the excessive overtime is indeed a daily occurrence. It is often the designers who stay behind, and there is no overtime pay.

The boss’s wife places great emphasis on details and aesthetics. Finalized work must be completed quickly—ideally, quickly and accurately.

Warning ⚠

If you don’t have strong passion and ability, it’s best not to try working here.

There is a high turnover rate here. From the company’s perspective, whenever they are short-staffed, they can simply find someone else. Please think carefully!

Pros

Has a cat

Cons

Applied for a graphic designer position but was told I would have to start as a junior designer

A monthly salary of 26,000

Overtime is considered an individual capability issue, so there is no overtime pay

It takes at least one year to be promoted (and promotion is not even guaranteed)

They repeatedly emphasized the three-month probation period but did not explain the difference between the probationary period and after probation

You only receive an annual bonus after completing one year of employment (it is not paid on a pro-rated basis)

Pros

You can experience the full extent of exploitation.

Cons

I don’t want to say too much. I just feel that the female boss only knows how to package everything to look impressive but empty, living in her own ivory tower.

The male boss also often has no idea what’s going on. Under all these unreasonable circumstances, they are never the ones in the wrong.

There is absolutely no motivation to take responsibility for this company or give it your all. The benefits are all just empty promises, and even taking annual leave gets mocked with comments about where you’re going to have fun. It’s quite a bizarre experience. To everyone here, I’d advise you: it’s better to have no job than to settle for a bad one.

Design assistant, salary 26,000. During the interview, they said overtime was uncommon, and that even if work went past 8 p.m., employees would be urged to leave the office. After joining, I found that there were actually hardly eight days in an entire month when I left work on time. Employees were not urged to leave after 8 p.m. either. I once stayed at the company until after 11 p.m. Regular overtime until 9 or 10 p.m. also occurred, and the company did not pay overtime; it was entirely a “responsibility-based” system.

The company has an error-report system. If there is an error in print production or artwork, employees must fill out a form and pay compensation. There are group options (such as deducting from everyone’s travel budget) and individual options. After completing the form, it must be signed and stamped by a supervisor, so employees almost always choose the individual option. During weekly meetings, everyone is informed of the compensation amount and whether the individual or group option was chosen. Some people had to pay one or two thousand, and there were also cases of having to pay more.

You often have to work overtime and call the supervisor for proofreading after finishing the artwork. The supervisor has often already gone home or left the company, so you have to spend time waiting for a return call. At best, the call comes within five minutes; at worst, I once waited from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. When artwork cannot be delivered on time, it is not because you have not done it. The supervisor has very high standards and often does not provide clear directions for revisions, instead frequently asking you to think for yourself and find the answer. There can be many rounds of revisions; cases involving 20 or 30 revisions have occurred.

Work is subject to a responsibility-based system with excessive hours and no overtime pay. If the supervisor does not approve the artwork, you must keep revising it until it passes. If you work overtime today and it still does not pass, the delivery date tomorrow remains fixed. Therefore, you have to work overtime on your own to revise it until the supervisor approves it, or take it home and contact the supervisor afterward to deliver it on time. If it is not delivered on time, the supervisor will personally keep urging you to finish the artwork and show it to them.

A design assistant often has at least three to five projects in progress at once. Sometimes they involve extending an existing design, and sometimes redesigning the visual concept from scratch. While you are busy with current projects, parts of previous projects that have not yet been closed may also come back for revisions. You are expected to manage your own time and meet deadlines. The only reason you cannot finish is supposedly that you are poor at allocating your time or lack ability, so overtime is considered only natural under this responsibility-based system.

Almost all of the positions are terrible—if you can avoid joining, don't go!

Especially the sales assistants: the turnover rate is extremely high, and if the boss is unhappy, they'll tell you to leave.

The starting salary for a sales assistant is NT$24,000; NT$30,000 is considered high pay. The starting salary for a design assistant is NT$26,000. There is unlimited overtime, and you often don't get off work until after 11 p.m. The boss will even require you to clock out before working overtime, to avoid being sued. At lunchtime, everyone often gathers to comment and gossip. At this company, whoever flatters the boss gets favored. The company has job openings all year round. I strongly advise against going—if you can avoid it, don't go. I guarantee you'll regret it!

I previously attended an interview. It took an extremely long time to confirm the interview time with HR. After the interview date and time were finally confirmed, I went to the company and was taken to a small, poorly ventilated room, where I nearly suffocated while waiting for a very long time. Eventually, someone came to interview me, but it seemed as though the company had simply assigned anyone available to conduct the interview. The person then told me to wait while they first looked over my résumé. I don't know whether the internal HR staff had failed to communicate properly or what, but when the interview was initially scheduled, the extremely long response time made me think they were reviewing the candidate's information. In the end, they hadn't even looked at my résumé before sending someone to interview me, and then told me that I didn't meet the qualifications. I have no idea what they were doing.
