Pros

I was notified very quickly after the interview that I could start work.

Cons

The salary during the probationary period was actually 23,100. Oh my, that’s way too low. I only found out the going salary rates at this company after asking my coworkers, and the year-end bonus is less than one month’s salary⋯

Packaging area: 25,110

Warehouse: 25,590

Purchasing: 27,010

Online operator: starting from 22,000

All of the above include a 3,000 perfect-attendance bonus, and labor and health insurance premiums and welfare fees are also deducted.

There are a whole bunch of rules about taking leave—they’re clearly just looking for excuses to deduct your perfect-attendance bonus.

But the boss’s family members all earn more than 60,000 per month - _ -

The salary is simply below the amount stipulated by the Labor Standards Act. I’m going to change jobs after the New Year⋯

Pros

Nothing⋯⋯

Cons

The pay is extremely low. Even though the job listing websites indicate a salary, it is all a lie. The probationary period is calculated on a daily-wage basis, and it is still calculated on a daily-wage basis after the probationary period. Typhoon days are unpaid. The salary structure contains many variable factors and depends entirely on the mood of a certain manager (the owner's daughter). When she is emotionally unstable due to menopause, she looks for opportunities to deduct money here and there. Employees are angry but dare not speak up because the company hires employees under financial pressure and threatens people at the slightest opportunity by citing possible dismissal. The method for calculating performance points is also a mystery; perhaps it is adjusted according to how much one flatters the owner. The company requires departing employees to return to the company to collect their final paycheck in cash, but anyone who returns will inevitably be verbally humiliated by the owner's daughter in front of everyone, so no one wants to go back to collect it. They simply withhold the pay instead. Employee turnover is extremely high, and who knows how much money they have made from former employees⋯⋯ Everyone must be careful of this unscrupulous company!

Pros

I really can’t think of anything.

Cons

The interview with the direct supervisor was just simple small talk, but once you’re hired, the nightmare begins: The family-owned company is rife with internal power struggles, and your position means choosing a side. The opposing side will come looking for trouble from time to time, humiliating you with cutting and nasty remarks; the on-site staff are of poor quality, and barging into the office to yell profanities at administrative personnel is commonplace. Turnover among new employees is high, while those who stay are mostly senior employees waiting to collect their retirement money, just coasting along and doing the bare minimum until retirement. The benefits are poor because the boss is extremely stingy, always cutting employee benefits on the grounds that “the company didn’t make money this year.” The HR staff are vicious with their words, and the employee lunches are terribly unappetizing. Most importantly, the three managers are all emotionally unstable: whenever they make a mistake, they turn into shrinking violets and flatly refuse to admit it. They simply blame their subordinates instead—completely lacking in accountability.

Gender discrimination, severe infighting within the family business, and high turnover.
