Pros

Ever since insourcing was outsourced here, ethics have started being pushed downward.

Cons

HR Lin✠瀅 (Lynn):

It’s very simple: Company S places great importance on talent. You’re thinking about it the wrong way.

You should be flexible. Because the client’s requirements keep changing, that’s why the work is handed to outsourcing,

so you should take on even more responsibility. That way, you’ll experience the so-called fulfillment of self-achievement.

New hire: But both the work and the responsibility are dumped on outsourcing, and I’m still the one responsible if something goes wrong?

HR Lin✠瀅 (Lynn): There’s insurance for everything, and the company’s systems are very comprehensive.

Li✠毓 (Stanley): Remember, if the server doesn’t come up, say first that it’s an environment issue;

if it starts and then stops shortly afterward, generate it for the client first, send it even if the parameters are entered randomly, and fix it later.

New hire: Isn’t that dangerous?

Xu✠龍: Don’t ask too many questions. The veterans don’t really teach you; they just tell you what to do,

like with the old cash-register system—figure it out and guess for yourself.

They only explain it once before evaluations; if you don’t know how, they’ll say you lack ability.

Li✠源 (James): Follow first in, first out, and you may still be accused of putting things away randomly;

make one typo, and your supervisor can lecture you for half an hour. Holidays are made up without extra pay,

and on weekdays it’s a system of responsibility-based employment; they won’t tell you that during the interview.

Li✠毓 (Stanley): When something goes wrong, the rookie takes the blame, and we’re safe.

It’s either that they’re Zhuge Liang, hiding their abilities, or that they’re covered in wounds.

HR Lin✠瀅 (Lynn): Don’t overthink it. Everyone grows this way.

Later, there may even be opportunities to travel to Japan or Jeju Island, and the company also organizes activities.

New hire: Then where is the “steak”?

Li✠毓 (Stanley): Ha, that was just small talk;

what’s really waiting for you is “all-you-can-eat potstickers and a slap across the face.”

Xu✠龍: When there’s time, you also have to help the supervisor take photos and admire oil paintings,

and listen to a bunch of commands that sound like bird language, as if this were military science.

Li✠源 (James): Lunch is often just a single bread roll, and you work overtime until midnight.

Li✠毓 (Stanley): I see.

Li✠毓 (Stanley): Welcome aboard. The thing here most like a vampire bat

isn’t the system—it’s the people who pass responsibility down one layer at a time.

Pros

Checked the company registration information; it is a subsidiary that AUO has invested in four times, and the company is stable.

Cons

I completed all the questions provided before the interview. The supervisor spoke very cautiously and directly asked why I had left my previous job. Before I left, they handed me an English document to translate, which I translated faithfully. It is difficult to determine why I was not hired. The form asked which locations I would be willing to be assigned to, so it is quite possible that I was not selected because I did not check China or Southeast Asia as locations where I was willing to be stationed. The job may involve being stationed at AUO’s overseas factories to maintain the ERP system.

I do not recommend that others make the trip for nothing.

Close to home

Cons

The position was for a .NET Programmer (project-based—non-resident).

The evening before, at 5 p.m., I received a call from HR saying that the company manager had seen my résumé and was very interested in me.

They also explained over the phone that there would be an online test.

The interview was at 10 a.m. the next day.

I spoke with the manager, Mr. Yang, for less than ten minutes in total.

As he was seeing me off and we were taking the elevator, Mr. Yang suddenly blurted out: “Actually, I feel like you’re not really looking for a job.”

I was completely dumbfounded.

And your company was the one that contacted me—I didn’t apply to you.......

A company that showed very little respect for interviewees.

The most outrageous interview experience I’ve ever had.

Pros

Leave entitlement is slightly better than required by the Labor Standards Act.

Cons

As on-site staff, you mainly interact with the on-site client, which can lead to disconnection from employees of the original company. It is difficult to enjoy the company’s internal benefits. You may need to make up work hours for the client when taking leave. Year-end bonuses are not guaranteed; there have been times when the bonus was only a few thousand dollars.
