Pros

The interview process was fairly normal.

Cons

1. The company has extremely high expectations for talent, but after learning more during the interview, the actual job responsibilities were no different from those at ordinary companies—essentially, it would be underutilizing someone’s abilities.

2. The interview process was fairly comfortable, but the salary and benefits were never mentioned, which made me feel that they were simply interviewing people to meet performance targets.

3. The average age across the company is under 40 (according to the hiring manager), and although the team is young, one must also consider the possibility of becoming unemployed in middle age at this company.

Pros

A little over a year ago, I interviewed for an assistant researcher position. The supervisor focused on professional qualifications during the interview, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I got the impression that only candidates with extensive experience would be hired, and I was very nervous that day, so I did not perform well. Next came an interview with the HR manager. He noticed that I was nervous and first made small talk to help me relax. He later asked how I had handled work-related problems in the past, and the interview atmosphere was equally pleasant.

The environment and benefits at Taiwan Liposome Company seemed very good. A friend of mine has a friend who works there and said that the workplace atmosphere is very harmonious and the company benefits are excellent. The company holds birthday celebrations and team-building activities, and it also has a gym. The interviews with the department supervisor and HR manager that day were both very pleasant. Although I was not hired, I had an excellent overall impression of Taiwan Liposome Company.

Cons

My overall impression was very good, and I did not find any particular shortcomings.

Pros

The department manager was very polite, and the interview was pleasant overall.

Cons

I don't know what the HR manager was acting so arrogant about. This was the first time I encountered an HR manager who was ruder than the department manager.

The HR manager was a woman, approximately 40 years old, and was scheduled for the second interview. I arrived on time, but the HR manager was 40 minutes late. After entering the meeting room, she didn't say a word of apology or offer any explanation. Does the interviewee's time not matter?

Throughout the interview, I could even sense this manager's arrogance. While I was answering questions, I could occasionally see her contemptuous smile. What was she laughing at? The interview questions were all standard, formulaic questions, such as “What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?” and “What is the biggest challenge you have encountered so far?”—the kind of textbook interview questions.

What left the deepest impression was being asked why I wanted to leave my current job. I think more than half of people would answer that they want to pursue a more fulfilling job or a better company. Naturally, I gave the same unsurprising answer. People with extensive interview experience probably know that very few people answer this question seriously, and very few interviewers actually want to dig deeper to understand the reasons. But this HR manager did. She kept coming up with reasons why I could continue staying at my current company to argue against me, debating until I wondered whether she simply did not want interviewees to join Taiwan Liposome Company. Are they actually trying to hire people?

Overall, the department manager was polite and pleasant to talk to, while the HR manager was incredibly arrogant—completely the opposite of most companies. It is a very difficult company to understand.
