Hank Systems, with its headquarters in Hsinchu, is a subsidiary of Marketech International. I worked as an Android PG. The position was advertised as Android, but after joining, about 70% of the work involved PHP and 30% involved Android. The department is small (4 people in Hsinchu and 3 in Tainan). The work atmosphere in Hsinchu is very serious. The main project is a smart factory inspection system for Epistar’s plant.

If you have just graduated, you can consider joining. However, I do not recommend it for people changing jobs. The salary is neither high nor low—just average.

The interview was in Tainan, but I never received the interview result. I emailed to ask, but there was no response at all.

After completing the test, I notified HR and waited two hours for the department manager. During the process, a kind colleague even called to inquire, but I still waited for over an hour. After the department manager finished the interview, I went home and waited for HR to call to discuss the benefits.

A few days later, HR called and opened with just one question: “When can you come in?” Without Whoscall, I wouldn’t even have known which company was calling. During the call, they completely avoided discussing the benefits.

There are hardly any advantages; the senior management only knows how to exploit employees.

Last year, the company earned more than double the EPS it did the year before. What’s ridiculous is that the year-end bonus was still only 1.5 months’ salary. They put it nicely by saying they would settle your compensatory time off at 1.5 times the rate, but when the year-end bonus was paid, they told you that because of the money used to settle the compensatory time off, they could only pay 1.5 months’ salary. The boss is really good at penny-pinching. On top of that, they frequently require overtime but can only give you 46 hours; anything beyond that can only be exchanged for time off, yet there are very few opportunities to take that time off. In short, this is not a company suitable for staying at long term because the boss is too stingy. Anyone considering joining should be mentally prepared.

Frequent resignations and high turnover; overtime hours are irregular, there is no clear work schedule, and regular long-term assignments away from the workplace (more than three months per assignment).

The company basically follows the Labor Standards Act. The starting salary is NT$30,000, including various allowances depending on how you negotiate. Regardless of the position you join in, you are usually assigned wherever there is a staffing shortage. Quality assurance staff also have to do engineering department work, and design department staff may be transferred over when the engineering department needs people. The company is understaffed, so one person has to do the work of two. The average working hours are about 10 hours, and you may need to take shifts depending on the staffing situation in your department. Newcomers’ benefits are usually cut here and there, so during your first year, you should be mentally prepared to frequently suffer losses.
