Read the community guidelinesSuitable for taking it easy until retirement; the staff meals are delicious.
The senior management is elderly and unwilling to retire. The company’s strategy keeps changing, and it shows very little respect for professional expertise, choosing instead to act according to its own ideas. As a result, the hotel lags far behind others in both its hardware and soft services, yet the company remains condescending and deludes itself into thinking it still has a place in the market. Many department heads are not professionals and have risen step by step solely because they know how to flatter their superiors.
The benefits are very ordinary. There is no overtime pay, and compensatory leave cannot always be claimed; even on typhoon days off, employees have to use their own leave, and may even be singled out by HR and asked why they did not come in.
Conclusion: If you want to coast until retirement and do not care about professional standards, this is a suitable place to work.
1. Salary and benefits compare favorably with those of peers/in the same industry
2. Employees have a strong sense of cohesion/loyalty
3. Working there gives you a sense of prestige
1. Regular overtime, but no overtime pay (compensatory time off instead)
2. Unable to use all annual leave
3. Dislike employees taking annual leave/compensatory time off
4. Company culture → employees are on call 24 hours a day/365 days a year (supervisors are, and frontline employees are expected to be as well)
5. Administrative staff who leave work exactly on time may be criticized or possibly called in for a meeting
6. The company will cover for managers simply because of their long tenure (not necessarily because they are capable); even when a manager has serious problems, the company still turns a blind eye
7. The company does not like employees pursuing further education or training outside the company, believing that this will make them unavailable to be on call at any time, or worrying that they will use classes/assignments as an excuse to request leave
