1. Salary and benefits compare favorably with those of peers/in the same industry
2. Employees have a strong sense of cohesion/loyalty
3. Working there gives you a sense of prestige
1. Regular overtime, but no overtime pay (compensatory time off instead)
2. Unable to use all annual leave
3. Dislike employees taking annual leave/compensatory time off
4. Company culture → employees are on call 24 hours a day/365 days a year (supervisors are, and frontline employees are expected to be as well)
5. Administrative staff who leave work exactly on time may be criticized or possibly called in for a meeting
6. The company will cover for managers simply because of their long tenure (not necessarily because they are capable); even when a manager has serious problems, the company still turns a blind eye
7. The company does not like employees pursuing further education or training outside the company, believing that this will make them unavailable to be on call at any time, or worrying that they will use classes/assignments as an excuse to request leave
