In other words, you have to rely on yourself (with no resources, no capabilities, and no direction).
This is especially true when what you do is not the department’s main focus (but involves cross-departmental collaboration), and contributions are evaluated separately (meaning responsibilities and authority are unclear). In the end, you have to handle everything yourself.
You need to clarify for yourself whether the work items and collaboration model are within your ability to handle.
Some departments may be better?
Basically, once you ask how much seniority the people in the unit have, you’ll know.
For a company in central Taiwan, the overall environment is great, and there is relatively more freedom. During downtime between projects, you can self-study things you want to learn. The relationships among colleagues are also fairly good. The policies and leave comply with the Labor Standards Act. It is very suitable for newcomers to the workforce to develop their skills. I left after finding a company with relatively much better compensation and policies.
The company’s revenue relies almost entirely on Gigabyte, and it is difficult to achieve good revenue otherwise. Salaries lag behind the industry, and there is almost no bonus system, which has also led to many talented employees leaving. Yet the company keeps recruiting new graduates. There are NT$1,000 gift vouchers each for the Mid-Autumn Festival and Dragon Boat Festival, a NT$600 birthday gift voucher, and an annual bonus of approximately 0.8–1.5 months’ salary.
Although I have already left the company, I feel that I simply wasn't meant to stay here. This is truly one of the few good companies I have seen in central Taiwan. It has well-established systems, a good environment, and comprehensive training. For newcomers, this really is a great company for developing their skills. The owner seems very kind, and the managers are all very nice as well. Perhaps it is because I am rather introverted by nature and was never able to fit into the company's lively office environment, so I chose to resign. Otherwise, this really is a good company.
