Pros

The colleagues are very nice (though I may have just been lucky).

Cons

During the interview, they said the position was for an “assistant to the manager,” but after I joined, they trained me as a sales representative instead. The key point is that both what was promised before joining and the actual work turned out to be completely different.

During the interview, they said the assistant-to-the-manager position had a base salary of 25–30k. Only after starting the job did I discover that the position actually had no base salary and still depended on performance. After finding out there was no base salary, I discussed it with the manager who interviewed me, but she insisted that what she had said at the time was “responsibility pay.”

She said she had mentioned that there was a base salary, but the prerequisite was having a license. Who would have a license when they had just started in this industry? Especially when the issue of licensing was never mentioned during the interview.

Personally, I think luring people into the company under the title of assistant to the manager, making them work for free, and then not paying them is truly unethical.

In short, be mentally prepared for the possibility of receiving no salary during the first month before taking this job.

Also, there is absolutely no administrative work as an assistant to the manager. They definitely treat you as a sales representative (and the pay is structured that way too).

Cons

At first, the position was described as an executive assistant responsible for handling administrative tasks, arranging the supervisor’s schedule, accompanying the supervisor to meet clients, with a salary of approximately NT$25,000–30,000, adjusted based on performance. After joining, I discovered that “executive assistant” did not actually mean a typical assistant; it was simply a packaged-up “sales representative” position—in other words, the same as the “sales representatives” hired by ordinary insurance companies. The difference from an insurance company is that this position has a base salary of NT$21,000, while the remainder depends on your performance, meaning how many civil servants you successfully arrange appointments with and how many cases you close.

In fact, administrative work is not the main responsibility at all. The primary task is making calls to arrange appointments. They specialize in serving military personnel, civil servants, and teachers, and claim to have designed special plans specifically for them, but this is also merely a repackaged sales pitch. Anyone can look it up online: an insurance broker is supposed to tailor insurance policies to clients’ specific needs and have professional lawyers handle disputes between clients and insurance companies over claims. This company does not fit the role of an insurance broker at all. It does not genuinely plan coverage according to clients’ needs; it only targets military personnel, civil servants, and teachers to sell insurance and generate sales performance.

If you simply want to pursue an administrative career, I do not recommend joining this company. It is essentially a disguised sales position. Even after meeting the performance targets, you will continue to be promoted; this is not a typical assistant job.
