Many of the issues mentioned in other reviews are true, and there are even more strange problems—too many to list~
Can consistency always be considered a strength?
This post is not intended as criticism; I just don’t want more people to fall into the same trap. Many of the things described in other posts are true, and there are even more issues that haven’t been mentioned. I don’t want to waste my own time writing them all out~ The main point is simply to remind everyone to be careful; otherwise, you’re the one who will suffer the consequences. Best of luck with your job search!
This company has been around for over a decade.
It is still fairly well recommended by both the industry and official agencies.
At least during my time there, I felt quite happy.
The industry peers downstairs have written so much.
Thank you for your hard work.
Too lenient toward unsuitable employees.
A company with no systems
There is no budget to hire HR, so things are handled haphazardly.
The company accountant is not an internal employee. An external accounting firm comes to the company once a week to handle related matters,
but does not help the boss review costs, budgets, or unreasonable expense claims.
As long as receipts are collected and the company tax ID is entered in the correct format, most longer-serving employees take advantage of this to pocket some extra money.
Business trips include high-speed rail and taxis, three-star hotel accommodations,
purchasing alcohol, a pile of late-night snacks, and daily necessities from convenience stores—
as long as the company tax ID can be entered, it is fine.
The boss manages in a laissez-faire way; you just need to learn how to please them.
Year-end prizes may be the result of the boss cracking under too much pressure,
or perhaps the boss inherited substantial assets from their parents’ generation.
The boss splashes out money at year-end as a way of venting stress.
At the year-end banquet, many clients are invited to watch the boss spend money,
with the aim of finding some gullible sucker to become a company investor. There have been many instances of squeezing money out of investors.
The benefit is that every employee receives a bonus of no more than NT$20,000,
because small companies do not offer high base salaries and are afraid people will leave, so they use the illusion of a year-end bonus to give employees a sense of happiness.
(But if you calculate it carefully—no raises, low wages, and excessive overtime, plus a once-a-year gift worth NT$10,000–20,000 or less as a little moment of happiness—is it really worth it?
The fact that improper expense claims can still be reimbursed may be why everyone fails to address the real problem.)
The company’s systems are extremely chaotic.
Employees are made to work excessive overtime, using one project to sustain another, while taking on a pile of small projects that are not cost-effective and perpetuating a vicious cycle.
When changing jobs or switching career paths,
interviewers and HR at most listed companies and the top 100 enterprises do not really recognize this company’s project experience,
because the small company has no effective project management.
During interviews, remember not to be too honest; when asked about project management, you should embellish this company’s operations.
The Taiwanese market demand for virtual reality, AR, and VR is very small, and the boss does not have much of a government-relations background.
The company mostly works as a subcontractor on major tenders. When project experience is presented
for full-time positions, diligent HR departments at listed companies will not find any records of this company’s involvement in public tenders.
The projects listed on your résumé will often be questioned, with extensive follow-up questions.
When the pandemic broke out, the number of exhibition projects decreased, making the company even more unstable.
The company’s passive management style prevents it from growing.
It can be an acceptable experience for young people without experience and for fresh graduates,
but after joining, they should carefully consider whether the company will still exist in the future, its long-term excessive overtime and dependence on one project to sustain another,
and the unstable situation caused by investors gradually withdrawing their funding.
Those wishing to start a family should carefully consider their long-term career development.
Only those who are single and do not plan to marry or have children, or who come from wealthy families and treat work as a place to socialize, can endure working here.
“Pros”: A company where no one manages you. Learn to flatter the higher-ups and kiss ass, because the boss understands neither design nor programming languages.
“Cons”: The bonus system is unclear; everything is decided by the boss’s personal whims. No matter how tired or hard you work, if the boss doesn’t like you, it all counts for nothing.
The system is very chaotic. The company’s graphic design style consists entirely of stock images and is still ugly. There are two graphic designers: to request a graphic from the long-established senior employee, you have to watch her mood; the other is a delinquent from a night school program who is the girlfriend of a certain employee, gets paid by the company, and eats up your bonus without generating any value.
Work efficiency is extremely slow, and the boss doesn’t care about product quality or aesthetics as long as the money comes in.
Graduates of five-year junior colleges who can’t find a job and just want to scrape by can come here. Don’t expect to learn anything here. When you apply for another job, people will doubt your abilities as soon as they hear the name of this company… It will make you suffer terribly.
After leaving, you’ll realize that you wasted your time here. Unless you want to be a useless person here for the rest of your life, using slick talk to deceive a boss who doesn’t understand design, you’re welcome to come here and become an interaction designer who has completely lost touch with the outside world.
They are very good at forming cliques. Employees spend most of their time caring about things other than work, while the boss never understands what matters, never hears the truth from the outside world that the company’s work is ugly and lacks design quality, and is an incompetent, spineless boss who only ever draws grandiose promises and talks nonsense.
Women are welcome to join. You only need to cry to solve problems, and the work will be dumped on the men until they are exhausted… As long as you gather a group, act aggressively, and bully the people you dislike, you’ll be invincible.
I have now left the company. Remember that here you need to learn how to safely disguise yourself and appease these queen bees. For the rest, if you feel something is wrong, quickly look for another job while still employed and leave as soon as possible.
They do not follow the systems required by the Labor Standards Act, but when they want to force you out, they use the Labor Standards Act to threaten you. Remember not to come here. If you want to experience third-rate interaction design, you’re welcome, but it will be of no help whatsoever to your résumé when changing jobs.
I can't think of anything at the moment. I'll add more if I think of something.
[ Organizational Management ]
• Chaotic—an absolute mess. The results of the personnel organizational structure are far worse than anything you encountered in a randomly assigned university general-education group. If you like rigorous rules and processes, you will go crazy.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
[ Project Management System ]
• There is tremendous room for improvement. Borrow a few books on project management from the library and read them (just one, please). They could help your employees work more efficiently and make the company more cold, hard cash. Wouldn't that be great? Keep it up! Please, keep it up!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
[ Software Development ]
• After reading classic software-development books by people like “Uncle Bob,” you will realize, once you join this company, that you read them for nothing, because you will have no use for them at all. You might think this has to do with an individual's attitude toward development. In that case, try joining this company and see how well you can do with schedules and systems like these. Perhaps you can still achieve decent development results and architecture, but only if you sacrifice your life, giving your life and everything else to the company. If you expect to become a superhero—someone who can maintain a good development mindset and discipline even amid total chaos—then come on in! Keep it up! Step outside your comfort zone and challenge your life!
• The company does not value professional software-development processes or discipline; it only values speed. Although most companies are like this, when the situation becomes too extreme, it can actually negatively affect the depth of your professional-skill development and your mindset.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
[ Company Senior Management / Organizational Personnel ]
• I seriously doubt whether the people responsible for the organization have studied Carnegie's series of books on human relations, or books on psychology. They are extremely skilled at appeasing employees—so skilled that you think everything you hear is true, until eventually you realize that what you experience is not like that at all. Put more plainly, we call it “painting a big picture” (making grand promises).
[ Compensation ]
• The following is a subjective personal statement; you can simply take it with a relaxed, easygoing attitude as an account of the facts. Have you ever wrung out a wet rag? The company is the pair of hands, and you are the rag.

[ Conclusion ]
• If you never understood why your mother always told you not to spend money recklessly when you were young—because earning money is hard—then come on in. Everything your mother said was true.
