Pros

The supervisor seems humane.

Cons

Basically, they will pick apart flaws in some of your past experience,

mention that every company has its own problems wherever you go,

then cut your salary,

and then say goodbye.

Although it's hard to tell whether it's good or not,

they aren't particularly generous with pay.

Cons

Working in the food and beverage department, this company was where I experienced being inexplicably dismissed for the first time in my life.

1. In the middle of a shift, the store suddenly asked me to fill out some documents and then told me that I had failed my performance assessment and could no longer continue working. I was so shocked that I almost thought I was on some kind of Hell’s Kitchen or reality show, where the host suddenly tells you that you can’t continue competing with the others. It was absolutely terrifying.

What made the whole thing even more absurd was that I had already worked there for more than three months, yet they suddenly told me I had failed the assessment. How strange. During the interview, they clearly said that after passing the assessments for the first three-month probationary period, I would become a regular employee. But after I had already completed that period, they used this kind of excuse to force me to leave. They said I had failed the assessment but did not show me how poor my results supposedly were. I was completely confused, and so was the colleague who worked the same shifts as me.

The supervisor plays favorites and gives special treatment to certain employees, so are employees who work seriously but are not good at social niceties simply supposed to be dismissed?

Please understand your role. We are here to work, not to joke around and make friends. I really cannot agree with the supervisor’s attitude. The way they got rid of an employee just because they disliked them was extremely clumsy. Unable to find any other reason, they resorted to citing the assessment results—I can only laugh.

2. The supervisors are all parachuted in from outside, so no matter how hard or seriously you work, you cannot get promoted. Those who are not well-liked may even be directly forced out.

3. The cash register’s petty cash was short by 1,000, but they absolutely refused to check the surveillance footage. Whom were they trying to cover for? Could their method have been any more disgraceful? They even made the other employees each contribute 350 to resolve the issue.

4. The salary is really not competitive.

Pros

● You can bond with ancient corpses (fossils), and you can also make the dolls your friends.

● The interview is very simple; they mainly look at your attitude, otherwise your abilities.

● The overall department-store environment is pretty good.

● The supervisor said it suits the “lonely weirdo” type; otherwise, it’s difficult to survive within the company.

● You can meet many considerate customers.

● If you are harmless, you can get along harmoniously with everyone.

● The company is not bad; it’s just that some of the veteran employees’ behavior internally is difficult to describe.

● People who want to lose weight or develop a bloated body type are also welcome to apply. (Guaranteed to make your three daily meals irregular.)

● Strong men who want to become even stronger are also very welcome. (Guaranteed to help you build muscle by moving fossils.)

Cons

1. You’ll work overtime to death at the department-store location, and you may be notified at any time that you’re being transferred to another store. The record is 13 hours of work in one day with no time to eat, and only one person covering the entire shift.

2. The salary is NT$26,000, and commissions for selling high-priced products are not paid until two months later. You never receive KPI bonuses, yet you still have to fight desperately to meet the target every month.

3. During major and minor warehouse inventories, you’ll count until you drop dead, and many products will turn up in mysterious corners. (The inventory is done approximately once every three months.)

4. If the new store’s performance does not meet the target and the veteran employees do not like you, they may demand that you pay out of your own pocket to make the numbers look good for the boss.

5. Veteran employees like obedient people rather than people with their own opinions—the more like robots, the better. Veteran employees are all slow to warm up.

6. To save costs, the company sends employees to help at the head office, and the veteran employees will pressure and brainwash you into going. (Because you will genuinely be worked to death, your clothes will get dirty, and you’ll have to move or pack fossils.)

7. Don’t perform too well. Even if you assign customers to veteran employees or other people so they can receive bonuses, they may still maliciously defame you at head-office meetings with managers from other stores. (For example, they may falsely accuse you of stealing, poaching customers, behaving improperly at the counter, deceiving people, and so on.)

8. Veteran employees like proactive people. However, if you are enthusiastic, some veterans may dislike you and think you are superficial.

9. You have to enter saint mode when eating, because most of the time you may be so hungry that you cannot eat lunch until 4 p.m., and you won’t even know whether it counts as lunch or dinner.

10. During receiving and returns, once veteran employees see that you are getting the hang of things, they will leave everything to you. You must be able to independently complete an inventory of about 200 products in a short time while also serving customers.

11. The turnover rate is frighteningly high.

12. Some supervisors really hate and strictly prohibit employees from chatting. If a supervisor’s camera catches you, unfortunately, you and your close colleague may have difficulty being scheduled on the same day again. Even chatting with the staff at the neighboring counter can get you in trouble.

13. Veteran employees always get first priority when scheduling days off; their schedules come first. Of course, some veterans will “first” ask which days you want off. But if all the veterans want that day off, unfortunately, you have to give way yourself, or you will be scolded for “not loving the job enough,” “having a poor attitude,” and “being domineering.”

14. Even if you provide documentation for sick leave, veteran employees may still suspect that you are faking your illness. (The reason is that people in the past used this trick to take leave.)

15. Veteran employees love the cashier area most. Remember, don’t compete with them for it.

16. Some veteran employees may ask you to arrange products on the display shelves. Remember to tell the other veterans which “bird” told you to do it; otherwise, you won’t even know how you got stabbed in the back.

17. If you use your phone for more than one minute during work, the supervisor has the right to deduct money from your pay. (The work rules prohibit phone use.)

18. New employees must unconditionally stay at the store during the year-end banquet (unless a veteran employee does not want to go), and new employees are usually not eligible to participate in the raffle.

19. If something is stolen or damaged and its cost exceeds a certain amount, the employee has to pay for it personally.

20. When you resign, the supervisor will first disappear and pretend nothing is happening, then appear a few days later and genuinely pretend to be sincere, trying to persuade you to stay for anywhere from another week to a month. Remember, don’t be soft-hearted and agree to help, or you may be extremely “happy” during that period.

The female HR manager was fairly nice during the interview... but it felt like she was in a hurry to leave~ There are problems.

Cons

Talking with the boss~ Sure enough, they expect you to handle everything~ They have an unclear grasp of the characteristics of specific job duties, and are accustomed to setting standards for people. Nowadays, work is highly specialized, so those who are bosses need to understand that.

Pros

None.

Cons

During the interview, they emphasized that the job operates under a "responsibility-based system," which may mean working even later overtime. Employees are prohibited from using their time off for self-directed learning. Since they interfere with employees' private lives outside of work, don't consider it. (Interview location: Zoo store)

Cons

The interviewer was a woman who initially required me to give a lofty self-introduction, then went on to spell out the “company rules”.......... (omitted). Store staff are paid 23K during the probationary period and 25K after passing it, but working hours exceed 10 hours. They emphasized that, under the “responsibility system,” employees might have to work even later. Employees are prohibited from using their time off for self-improvement. If they interfere with your private life, don’t even consider it.

Pros

The company’s systems and organizational structure are adjusted at any time according to the boss’s mood. Overtime cannot be exchanged for overtime pay; it can only be exchanged for compensatory leave, and no matter how much compensatory leave you accumulate, you still cannot take it. Store employees can only have one day off during holidays. The bonus system is also adjusted at any time because they are afraid employees will receive too much. Salary increases are difficult, and promotions depend on the boss’s mood: employees are promoted when no one is available, then demoted again to save costs once they have been used. They want to imitate large companies by implementing KPIs but do not understand what KPIs are. All systems and KPIs are no match for a single word from the boss.

Pros

The salary is relatively low and difficult to increase. After joining, it is different from what was discussed—you are expected to handle everything and pour in your blood, sweat, and tears. KPIs depend on the boss’s mood, and the year-end bonus depends on the KPI..... There is a two-day domestic employee trip, small cash gifts and gift boxes for the three major holidays, and a small birthday cash gift. The requirements are not particularly demanding, but those who are extremely willing to give their all may consider it—though there is no guarantee of receiving anything in return.

Pros

It’s a fairly warm and welcoming place. Anyone interested in animal fossils would be very happy here. The downside is that unless you don’t care about your salary, you’ll always only earn the base salary here.

Moreover, full-time employees, regardless of rank, unexpectedly have to handle a lot of miscellaneous tasks. Overall, I can only say it’s average.
