Pros

Freedom to take leave, no overtime

Cons

1. Assistants are required to write a daily work report every day, including the completion time of every task. Waiting time in between cannot be counted. How, then, is the work supposed to be quantified? If the quantified hours are too few, assistants are subjected to sarcastic remarks and assigned tasks far beyond their job responsibilities, for which there is no handover, simply to fill the hours in their reports. Their performance bonuses are also deducted because the quantified working hours are too few.

2. During performance evaluations, there is basically only one meeting per year to ask whether there are any work-related problems. For the rest, performance ratings are entirely based on the supervisor’s mood. Assistants may even have a large amount of their performance bonus inexplicably deducted because of the aforementioned “low number of working hours for administrative assistants.” There is no fair system whatsoever.

3. An administrative assistant’s job is to ensure on-time shipments and maintain reports. If there are no orders and therefore no shipping tasks for the assistant, they may still be criticized for having insufficient working hours and for lacking ambition, which then becomes a reason to deduct their performance bonus.

4. The department is extremely unfriendly toward pregnant employees and employees returning from maternity or parental leave. One colleague returned from maternity leave and was attacked by her supervisor, who said that anyone willing to return after having a child did so only because the job was so easy that they could not bear to give it up. This is workplace bullying.

5. Senior assistants who had held stable positions for more than five years have been resigning one after another. Everyone should carefully consider why senior assistants who have been employed for so long would want to leave.

Pros

Flexible leave

Cons

1. The company severely bullies new employees, and supervisors and HR handle matters unfairly. It is advisable to bring your own recording equipment or collect evidence and take the matter to court—it may be faster—or change companies.

2. Supervisors heavily monitor subordinates; everything must be reported, leaving virtually no privacy. Taking even a short break is regarded as slacking off, making it feel much like working on a production line. It is recommended to drink more energy drinks.

3. Supervisors are very skilled at brainwashing subordinates with a tone of superiority, talking about how the company has great prospects for the future and so on. If you take the reviews at face value, you lose.

Pros

Great location, parking subsidy (a little over NT$1,000 per month)

Cons

Long post—read at your own discretion (the interviewer was a female manager)

I have interviewed with many companies, and today's interview manager provided the worst experience I have ever had. The interviewer was highly prejudiced and showed no respect for the interviewee from beginning to end. This was already the second interview. Normally, being notified of a second interview should mean that, after consideration, the company wanted to learn more about the candidate and was interested in hiring them. However, from beginning to end, she showed no interest in getting to know me and only kept asking, “What questions do you have?” I came to the company for an interview, so shouldn't the interviewer be asking me questions? I was unfamiliar with the company, so the nature of the work, salary, and benefits should have been explained to me. Then I could ask questions. If nothing is explained, what am I supposed to ask? Candidates are also nervous during interviews, and the answers they give are what they themselves consider reasonable and appropriate. Yet the interview manager was on her phone throughout the entire interview and did not listen attentively. She even asked, “Can you say that again?” I do not think I said anything unclear at the time. Rather, the interviewer’s constant phone use made me feel extremely disrespected. Instead of giving the interviewee confidence during the interview, she made the candidate feel disrespected.

Before the interview, I had already done extensive research online. Many people have shared their experiences interviewing for business positions at this company. From last year until now, the company has continuously been hiring and has also continuously been criticized by netizens, who all say that it is a company that does not respect interviewees. During the interview, I said that I liked the company’s atmosphere and culture and that it seemed very lively. The interviewer actually responded, “You’ve never been here before, so how would you know?” I complimented your company, but in return received a mocking tone and was made to feel discouraged. I have never experienced an interview process that was so incompatible and awkward. The interview lasted 30 minutes in total, 20 of which were spent waiting; the actual interview took approximately 10 minutes. It felt as though I was merely being dismissed perfunctorily. If you really want to hire people and value everyone who comes for an interview, please do not spend the time of both parties on two interviews when the process is extremely inefficient, the discussion is not detailed, and the interviewer is evasive. Please make sure that the candidate is suitable for the position before sending a second-interview invitation; otherwise, you are simply wasting both parties’ time. If you want to find talented people, please first review the interviewer’s attitude. This is my suggestion to your company. Whether you hire me is one thing, but one thing is certain: this interview experience was terrible for me. My high expectations and wasted time left me extremely upset. Your company’s interview was truly the worst I have ever experienced!

The above describes my actual personal experience and reflects my personal opinion.

Job seekers considering interviewing here, I suggest thinking twice!
