Pros

• New hires with limited abilities are treasures

Because their salaries are low,

even an incompetent manager dares to give you a sizable raise all at once.

• People who know how to get things done can only rely on sheer endurance

Good employees have no connections to rely on,

so they can only depend on seniority, performance, and persevering, climbing up step by step.

• Once you really become stronger and more experienced

Your manager will sincerely tell you:

👉 “Your salary is already very high. It can’t be increased any further.”

• The most valuable employees are, ironically, the least worth investing in further

Because you can’t leave, and you can’t bear to leave.

Cons

• The Maintenance Department takes on everything other departments don’t want

The manager neither coordinates nor refuses, saying only, “No problem, we’ll handle it,”

but “we” never includes the manager personally.

• Staffing is always insufficient, and the workload never decreases

An overloaded schedule is the norm, and overtime is the bare minimum;

whether employees are exhausted doesn’t matter—the most important thing is that someone bears the burden.

• Responsibility flows downward, while credit flows upward

When something goes wrong, it’s because frontline staff didn’t work hard enough;

when nothing goes wrong, it’s because the manager knows how to manage.

• Maintenance staff aren’t people; they’re consumables

If they can hold up, keep using them; if they can’t, replace them.

In one sentence

👉 People who don’t know how to do the job are easier to keep; people who do know how to do it are considered too expensive.

👉 This is the most “stable” system in Chuanhong Air Conditioning’s Maintenance Department.

Pros

The less responsibility you have, the more free time you get! The company won’t manage it anyway.

Cons

Explosive workload

As a maintenance department assistant, I faced mountains of work every day. The workload kept increasing, but staffing was never supplemented; instead, a large number of unnecessary maintenance-related positions were added. Even though we were required to leave work on time, the tasks were never finished, and employees often became trapped in a vicious cycle of “being unable to finish the work yet still being questioned about when it would be completed.”

Overtime pay procedures are cumbersome

Although the company allows employees to apply for overtime pay, the review process is extremely complicated. Employees described it as, “You can apply, that’s true, but the procedures are complicated.” In practice, it is very difficult to receive, making the policy effectively meaningless. This policy may appear considerate, but in reality it increases the administrative burden, leaving assistants even less able to handle their regular duties.

Contradictory management

On the one hand, supervisors instruct employees to leave work on time; on the other, they strictly hold employees accountable for unfinished work, creating a double standard. This management style not only fails to solve problems but also amplifies employee stress. Maintenance department assistants are often caught in the middle and placed in a difficult position, which can easily lead to psychological trauma over time.

In short, the working environment for the maintenance department assistant position at this company is poor, and applying is not recommended. It is advisable to look for an air-conditioning service company with sufficient staffing and reasonable management to avoid wasting time and energy.
