Pros

There aren't really any particularly special advantages; compared with other companies, they're just basic company benefits, perhaps with slightly lower frequency and coverage. At most, the location is convenient for transportation.

Cons

First, the key point: Regardless of whether things are going well for you there, once you have passed the initially agreed probationary period (basically three months), even if they still haven't told you whether you have been formally hired, as long as you are not leaving voluntarily, do not under any circumstances let them ask you to fill out any kind of voluntary resignation statement. Don't give up your right to the severance pay you are entitled to.

The main point: You really don't learn much. You just keep translating, and there is not much planning in the way they train people. The instruction is very disorganized, and it's unclear what they are supposed to teach. Honestly, even if you have a foundation in and understanding of patent laws and regulations, it won't be particularly useful or give you any advantage. The work environment is quite oppressive, and overtime is only compensated with compensatory leave. During the probationary period, they provided no negative comments, feedback, or ongoing performance follow-up. Although the new hire's basic performance clearly met expectations, after the full three months they said there might be a gap between the performance and what they expected, and then said they would extend the observation period. Since there is a considerable difference between the salary during the probationary period and the salary stated for formal employment, this has a significant impact. It is unclear what the intention is. Either you genuinely did not meet expectations, but because there is no such mechanism, they forgot or did not know that there should be a way to assess ability and provide feedback (which confirms the earlier point about not knowing how to train people); or they are trying to cut costs and take advantage of this arrangement as much as possible. After all, the workload of churning out translations does not require much investment in training—there is a whole group of disposable workers, and even if they suddenly fire you later, it doesn't matter.

In the meantime, I saw many people come and go. Several of them were told that it would be better to sign a voluntary resignation so they wouldn't be asked later why they had a record of being laid off. Don't be fooled by their wordplay.

There are drafting engineers in the department, so you don’t have to spend time drawing plans yourself.

Cons

Work assignments among the engineers are uneven, and performance evaluations are unreasonable. The more capable the engineer, the more difficult cases they usually receive, but the effort and time spent writing difficult cases are disproportionate to the performance points awarded by the supervisor. In addition, each quarter, engineers’ performance evaluations are assessed against the same standards as those of engineers who regularly write cases of average difficulty or translation cases.

A while ago, I received a website notification saying that the review had disappeared. Fortunately, a friend had taken screenshots of some of my review, so I am rewriting it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me start with a preface, because I originally did not plan to write this, and I did not even know this website existed.

But just now, a former coworker asked me to verify whether I had written the previous review (because the review someone else wrote about the website issue had disappeared).

The former coworker had already told a certain manager that I was not the author, but the manager still believed that I had written it ((Huh? ((Black-question-mark face

My view is that, regardless of the reason for leaving a job, everyone should try to part on good terms. But some people simply refuse to do so, and there is nothing I can do about that ((shrug

I am currently concentrating on my studies; I am really not so bored that I would waste time writing this.

But my former company likes to make baseless accusations about former employees. Before making accusations, could you please verify the facts first? The starting salary mentioned in the disappeared previous review was actually somewhat higher than mine.

You want to build a good company reputation, and I also need a guarantee of my personal integrity and credibility.

Personally, I did not dislike this job. It was genuinely my personal plans and two particular people that made me unwilling to continue.

The review of the pros and cons begins below, with three points each, because there is too much to cover (I was an administrative employee, with nearly four years of tenure).

Pros:

1. Close to home and convenient transportation ((for me, at least

2. Most coworkers were pretty good ((although there were still a few people whose various behaviors annoyed everyone

3. Although doing simpler work at the beginning could be boring, unlike ordinary administrative work, there was still some challenge and professional knowledge was required

Cons

1. Women are required to wear heels ((personally, I do not like this

2. Violated the Labor Standards Act. Previously, overtime pay was not provided. After someone reported the company, paid overtime became available upon application starting in 2017, but applying was difficult and supervisors would make things difficult, so approval was not guaranteed. They would also say that something was not urgent and could be done the next day, then complain at you the next day if it became urgent or delayed other work. If you did not apply, you were not paid. To guard against inspections, the company also had coworkers clock out uniformly, so this still violated the Labor Standards Act.

3. There were regular pay increases, but performance evaluations were not transparent, so no one knew the criteria or whether they were fair.

That is all—this is the only review I have written, so if anyone from my former company sees it, please stop making baseless accusations.

Pros

You can learn how to replace light bulbs.

Cons

This place can really only lure inexperienced newcomers into joining.

The environment is poor, the atmosphere is bad, and there is no room for development.

The company keeps getting smaller, and the boss is stingy.

When it is time to pay year-end bonuses, they say the company did not make any money.

There used to be some excellent senior experts, but later the company declined significantly and almost all of them resigned.
