Pros

No advantages whatsoever

Cons

The supervisor speaks in a sarcastic and cutting manner; even when you can answer the questions, they will still make sarcastic remarks.

They make snide comments about everything, then go on to say that the company is very open-minded and compassionate, and can accept all kinds of people.

They pressured me to give an answer immediately on the spot. When I said that I also had interviews with other companies to consider, they made a few sarcastic remarks, saying: “Okay, anyway, the company will be interviewing other candidates later, and we may not necessarily hire you.”

If you want to practice handling pressure, you can try interviewing here to test your ability to cope with stress. This has been the most challenging company I have interviewed with so far (strictly in terms of the interview process).

The company’s salary structure is also very opaque. Everything is attributed to performance, and they refuse to provide an actual range.

In short,

I am grateful to this company for letting me experience just how low a person’s standards of speech can be. They hold high positions but have no regard for others in the way they speak; failing to retain employees is entirely their own fault.

Pros

Work environment and culture: (Below are statements made by the head of the Technical Department on the programming team’s LINE platform)

It is wrong to punish people without first teaching them. Below is a collection of things previously said to Polo, Sunny, Yen, and Cheng, brought out again as a reminder to everyone:

1. No matter what, please be sure to complete your work assignments by the deadline.

2. Time is limited, but methods are unlimited.

3. Whether the delivery deadline is reasonable is not for you to determine.

3. When offering opinions, please provide proposals that shorten working hours while improving quality. There is no need to mention anything else.

4. The quality of your work represents your level of ability. You may merely meet the minimum standard, or exceed it; it depends on your attitude toward your work.

5. Those who are unfamiliar with the required skills, please use your personal time to learn them. After all, they are one of the tools you use to earn a living.

6. Company work is supposed to produce output. Learning and improving personal skills do not count as output.

7. Everyone has different job responsibilities; you only need to play your role well.

8. Do not expect others to provide anything for you. Ask yourself what you can provide to the team.

9. Performance bonuses come from team performance and individual performance. As the name implies, performance bonuses require performance first, followed by the bonus.

10. Team performance is naturally determined by the boss. Achieving good performance is our team’s common goal.

11. Individual performance is determined by the supervisor. The more problems you create for the supervisor to clean up, the worse your performance will naturally be, and the farther away bonuses and raises will be.

12. We are all just trying to make a living. Please do not mess around and cause the team to be dissolved, leaving everyone unemployed.

13. Since you have come here, please adapt to the corporate culture, departmental systems, and team rules. Survival of the fittest; those who cannot adapt should adjust themselves.

14. Only by identifying with the company and the team can you achieve high productivity.

15. If you only want to slack off, then find another path. Do not harm the team’s performance. Everyone has eyes; if you cause everyone to lose their bonuses, the resentment will be shared by the entire team. Let this be an encouragement to us all....

Cons

The company has a high employee turnover rate; approximately seven people left around March (three full-time employees resigned, three non-full-time employees resigned, and two non-full-time employees were laid off).

The Marketing Department said that after the company became the agent for .taipei, it was no longer very profitable.

The company’s front-end position is constantly changing hands, and so is the PHP engineer position.

This is the first time I have seen a company whose marketing staff do not even know the 4Ps and 4Ss of marketing.

Suggestions for management:

As the head of the company’s Technical Department said, which company in Taiwan does not have problems nowadays?

However, the problems that generally exist in companies can be divided into two types. One is problematic matters or things, which require professional personnel to resolve. The other is problematic people. These people either turn a blind eye to problematic matters or things, or they continually cause recurring problems, making them impossible to resolve. But if the person in charge of recruitment at a company is constantly looking for people and even says that there needs to be a large-scale replacement of staff, then that manager’s professional competence is also problematic. This is because they must be an outsider who does not know how to do the job, and their leadership ability should also be questioned.

Pros

1. Flexible working hours; there is no need to clock in, only to sign in yourself (so some people sign in for several days at once).

2. You receive severance pay if you are laid off, and it is easy to get laid off. People who want to claim unemployment benefits for a short period may want to consider this.

3. The office has been renovated.

4. Slacking off, doing nothing, and putting on airs will not be noticed.

5. Unlimited free secondhand smoke.

6. A place where beginners can keep quiet and grind experience.

Cons

1. A supervisor in one department really likes to say, “I’m a very good supervisor,”

but whether someone is a good supervisor should be judged by other people....

2. Basically, this company likes to hire fresh graduates or people without experience, but the supervisors lack knowledge in their professional fields,

which leaves new hires like headless flies (but as long as you keep yourself blindly busy like the supervisor, you can survive).

The supervisor of one particular department especially likes the feeling of training newcomers (but rather than training you, it is more like leaving you to fend for yourself and then showing up later to talk nonsense).

They like inexperienced newcomers to come in and teach themselves (not very successfully), then use the tone of someone who thinks they are a good supervisor to claim that they trained them.

If you cannot produce something to bluff the boss during the period when they feel good about themselves, you will be laid off or thrown into another department.

3. People come and go in every department; staying for six months to a year can already be considered quite a long time.

4. There is not much motivation to work. Supervisors only want to produce some bullshit to give the boss, making the boss feel that the department is doing something. The quality of what gets produced is secondary (or perhaps the boss simply wants something that can bluff the world). Basically, it is like being a civil servant and just getting through each day.

5. When you resign, the person handling accounting and HR will say, “I’ll E-MAIL the resignation documents to you.” Basically, this is all bullshit, so you should request and collect all the documents before you leave.

6. The supervisor of one department only relays the boss’s ideas to the people in the department without thinking them through. Although the position is called “manager,” it is essentially false advertising; procedures, implementation, and time allocation are all a complete mess. They only know how to talk nonsense.

7. If you encounter a problem, the supervisor will not think about helping you solve it; as long as something is produced somehow, that is enough. If you want to propose an idea or discuss difficulties with other colleagues, the supervisor will only think that you are causing vicious infighting within the department (黑人問號.jpg). Therefore, apart from the supervisor chatting within the department, there is no other conversation.

8. The supervisor of one department goes to salary websites to check whether people who have been laid off or resigned have posted reviews. You could say they have a guilty conscience... (the supervisor’s inner monologue:

“They won’t be able to find a supervisor as good as me after they leave; other companies out there are even more dangerous....” and other thoughts used to comfort themselves.) But rest assured, we are all doing very well outside.

9. The company has been established for more than ten years, yet it still does not have a complete system. The only thing that is complete is the bullshit KPI system.

10. The supervisor of one department says one thing to one person and another thing to another. In other departments, they portray themselves as Mazu descending into the mortal world to save ignorant commoners, but within the department they are someone whose word means nothing and who has no backbone. Every day they play taiji and practice white terror; if differing opinions or anything else displeases them... they immediately stage a harem-style power struggle and lay you off (not having to resign in anger yourself should probably count as one of the benefits).

Summary: Don’t make the head of the technical department unhappy.
