Regeneration Network (Regeneration Mending the Net)

My personal experience:

The food is basically very good. The company provides meal subsidies, the promotion system is clear, and evaluations are conducted every three months. Colleagues are friendly and look out for one another, and the company provides dormitories.

Cons

My personal experience:

The boss is the spiritual leader of the company; the boss is essentially everything. Although he says he does not interfere in company personnel matters, in reality, many things are decided by him. His words also often contain chauvinism. He is very emotional and does not like employees associating privately.

I was dismissed because I did not honestly disclose that I was living with a colleague I was dating. The company considered me dishonest.

Originally, for convenience, I moved into the company dormitory. Later, I applied to move out, citing “going home to accompany my family.” During the process, my supervisor kept asking whether something had happened at home. Because I was worried that my supervisor might overthink it, I repeatedly said that I simply wanted to go home. In fact, I did go home every day that month, and it was not until the week before I was dismissed that I started living outside with my colleague (girlfriend).

One day, the boss and department supervisor called me into the lounge and asked me:

“Who exactly are you living with? How could you possibly be going home every day?”

Because I felt there was no need to report my private affairs, I did not say. Later, my girlfriend was also called into the lounge for questioning. After questioning us separately, the company decided that I had been dishonest and dismissed me that same day. My girlfriend also found the interrogation process extremely uncomfortable and left voluntarily that day.

After my dismissal, I received a certificate of involuntary separation (I was dismissed on the grounds of being unsuitable for the position) and severance pay.

Additional note: Later, colleagues from other departments told me that after I left, the boss gathered everyone and said that my girlfriend and I had been having an ambiguous relationship (I am also a woman). However, I do not know what the actual situation was. My girlfriend’s parents also said that, before dismissing me, the boss called them to say that he was going to fire me (???). I do not know whether he was trying to report me to them. The whole thing made me feel as if I had gone back to my school days, when there were school disciplinarians.

Additional note: In fact, the employees have very good relationships with one another and occasionally arrange outings after work. I was probably invited two or three times, but we simply had to avoid being discovered by management or the boss. It was inexplicable, but at this company everyone followed this kind of rule.

Before all of this happened, the boss and supervisor took very good care of me. All I can say is that this is an extremely subjective company.

Pros

Because the boss likes it himself, employee trips usually have pretty good food.

The company has cats and dogs that can soothe your battered soul.

Basically, if you show up for the interview, you get hired. The boss himself even says that we “recruit a bunch of people” (and then “weed out the weak and retain the strong”).

The promotion system and procedures are posted in the hallway. Evaluations are conducted by a vote among the managers, and the boss says he does not interfere (but everyone knows you have to watch his mood.....)

Cons

The boss is extremely emotional and refuses to accept any other opinions, always believing that he is the most professional. Even when you ask a question, he has already decided on the answer in his head, so there is really no need to answer.

They say you can learn things, but because the products handled are too diverse, you actually cannot develop any serious professional skills or knowledge.

The boss cannot accept employees being friendly with one another. Seeing employees chat makes him lose his temper and scold them outright. The most outrageous thing is that he often calls all employees together to express personal opinions unrelated to work. He even defines chatting as not being noisy—just speaking quietly counts as chatting (in other words, you are not allowed to talk). BTW, you cannot chat or look at your phone while eating. You absolutely must not let him know that employees are friends outside of work. He is extremely controlling and invades employees’ personal space from working hours through after work. Any of the above violations are accompanied by punishment.

Salaries are often calculated incorrectly. Clock-in records are still manually entered into the computer by part-time student workers, so pay is frequently added incorrectly.

When joining the company, they said there would be a one-month year-end bonus. After staying for a year, they said the year-end bonus had been canceled, and the bonus calculation method is also extremely “complicated.” The company’s policies change constantly and without notice. The boss may even transfer you to another department simply because he does not like you, and he changes working hours whenever he feels like it.

They calculate hourly wages while thinking they are being fair. Once you reach the trainee level or above, hard overtime work is absolutely required: a fixed 10-hour workday, with the two hours beyond eight paid at the same one-times rate.

The company burns incense every day at noon. The smoke is extremely heavy—so heavy it looks like a sign of an impending fire—and there is a lot of PM2.5. In addition, the boss makes no effort to avoid smoking indoors; he smokes wherever he goes.

The company’s lunch break is only 30 minutes. Both lunch and dinner breaks are only 30 minutes, and if you forget to clock out for a meal, NT$100 will be deducted from your pay.

Basically, do not apply for a full-time position. If you are a student, just work part-time. The benefits are almost the same as those for regular full-time employees; you can also go on company trips and attend the year-end banquet lottery, and the hourly wage is also NT$150. You can even choose which days to take off.

It is usually difficult to schedule consecutive days off, and the company basically does not allow more than six consecutive days off. There is no annual leave; annual leave is paid to you as part of your salary.

Pros

None

Cons

1. The boss smokes in front of everyone

2. You have to come to work no matter how severe the typhoon is

3. You only get a raise when promoted to management

4. Even the most senior managers have to clean the toilets

5. Everyone, including managers, is paid hourly

6. Your pay is deducted whenever you make a mistake; managers have double deducted

The last point should probably be the conclusion drawn from all of the above

7. There is a very high turnover rate among both new employees and managers

There is a lot of work, and it is very miscellaneous. The working hours also do not comply with the Labor Standards Act. Full-time employees start at more than ten hours. It is also full of young people.

Pros

This is based on my previous experience as a management trainee; I don't know whether the system has changed now.

Pros

1. Subsidies are provided for meals, exhibitions, continuing education, and more.

2. Dormitories are provided, with only basic utility fees charged.

3. Upon joining, you first rotate through internships in each department, so you can learn quite a lot.

4. Employee trips are organized approximately every 2–3 months (one-day or two-day domestic trips).

5. Teamwork and mutual support are valued, and the atmosphere among colleagues is good.

Cons

1. Management trainees can only take 5 days off per month, with no annual leave, typhoon days off, or national holidays. Sick leave or personal leave can be requested, but it must be made up using your subsequent leave allowance.

2. The workday is 8–9 hours, and the duties are numerous and miscellaneous, yet the monthly salary is only around 27K.

2. The boss brings emotions into the workplace and smokes in the office.

3. After the internship ends, the boss and management decide which department you will go to, without considering your preferences.

4. Employee turnover is very high.
