Pros

The receptionist gave me a bottle of water.

Cons

Interview process

The interview was held at the headquarters in Banqiao. The meeting before mine was delayed by 30 minutes, making the interviewee wait for 30 minutes. The interview itself wasn't even as long as the wait~

After finally sitting down to talk, they said I was too young and wouldn't be able to manage these senior uncles and aunties, some of whom had been working there for 20–30 years!

They advised me to start as a store team leader instead, saying that the store bonuses were higher. The person handling my salary calculation even seemed envious.

But... I had written all of this basic information truthfully on my résumé. Why waste both sides' time on an interview?

They also required interviewees to provide detailed family and personal background information on their résumés, and even forced them to fill in their current salary. The HR representative was late and failed to keep the appointment. Does an HR representative who shows such disrespect toward interviewees treat us as mere KPIs?

One of the interview questions

Q: Why do you want to change career paths?

A: Because shift work would give me an irregular schedule.

I changed jobs precisely because I don't want to work shifts, and then you tell me to start as a store team leader???

Interview advice

HR is a microcosm of the company. You definitely won't be treated well after joining, so just run for the hills!

It's a family business with a very strong traditional Taiwanese flavor. HR themselves said that many long-time employees are stubborn and unwilling to change, yet they expect us newcomers to correct them.

Pros

The cleaning lady is very nice, the company environment is good, and the snacks are good.

Cons

A family-owned business

It pretends to have systems in place, but in reality there are no systems.

You have to do whatever the people above you tell you to do, even when it involves very personal matters.

They are very good at packaging everything and making it sound idealistic.

They make you think the future will be good and that the company will improve.

But after staying for a while, you discover that they only talk.

You have to be very good at ingratiating yourself with upper management to have any room for career development.

(But the chances are still very small; from time to time, someone will secretly keep an eye on you and suppress you.)

Pros

The headquarters provides gift vouchers and bonuses three times a year.

Cons

It looks like a large company, but is actually a closed-off family business with insufficient staffing.

As long as you earn slightly more than those who came before you,

newcomers are treated harshly; only employee shareholders and senior relatives can stay.

Regardless of how much lower-level employees accomplish,

they will continue to be questioned by certain people.

Only join if you can put up with it.

In any case, you will still receive your salary;

how you choose to think about it is a matter for the company’s senior management.

Pros

Eat employee meals

Cons

Dreamed that~

1. The team leader position is bought with money; you have to buy shares in the company to be promoted to team leader.

2. After becoming a team leader, you get 8 days off per month, and if you get fewer days off, no overtime pay is provided.

3. After becoming a team leader, annual leave becomes fixed at 7 days. Regardless of how long you have worked there, it is always 7 days, and no overtime pay is provided.

4. Even if the other team leaders are really incompetent, nothing can be done, because they have also bought shares in the company.

5. If you want to get back the money you invested, you will probably only receive 10–20% of what you put in.

6. Everything is decided by the store manager, because the store manager is the largest shareholder.

7. The store manager does not know how to use a computer, so all administrative work is handwritten. OMG!! Come to think of it, apart from the POS machine, there is no other 3C equipment in the store. Head office only sends messages via LINE; everything else is on paper, on paper, and on paper.

8. Because the store manager is very old (probably in their 50s) and does not know how to use a computer, working here is completely like going back to the Stone Age. At least, we know fire exists!

9. There is no computerization; everything is on paper, on paper, and on paper.

10. After becoming a team leader, you cannot get married, because there is only one day of marriage leave. The company says you already have 8 days off per month.

11. If someone wants to take bereavement leave, they first have to submit a request to Assistant Manager Chang at head office (apparently the general manager’s sister?). You have to ask Assistant Manager Chang how many days of bereavement leave she will allow?? The government clearly stipulates the number of days, yet approval from head office is still required. If Assistant Manager Chang’s father *died*, would you want us shareholders to decide how many days of bereavement leave you could take?? No humanity!

You can learn if you lack knowledge.

You can look things up online if you lack common sense.

But what do you do if you lack humanity???

Someone please say something...
