They notify candidates of interview time changes by email.

For the interview at the International Medical Center, candidates are first given an A4 sheet for a written test. The first section consists of translating medical terms from Chinese into English or English into Chinese, while the other six questions concern emergency situations. However, candidates are given less than five minutes to write their answers, and are told that they may simply answer the questions during the interview if they are asked.

Afterward, I was taken upstairs for an interview with two female supervisors. As soon as we met, they asked why I had not finished the written test.

They also acted very arrogantly, did not introduce the position at all, and immediately focused on weaknesses in my résumé, questioning me in an aggressive manner (for example, about my short work experience or why my previous job was in a different industry). Finally, they asked me to convince them why they should hire me. Before the interview ended, they did not give me an opportunity to ask questions about the job either. This made the interviewers seem unprofessional and disrespectful toward candidates.

After making inquiries, I learned that this position had been recruiting repeatedly. It felt as though the high turnover rate was caused by unclear work assignments and problems with the supervisor. After learning that Wanfang Hospital is operated under commission from Taipei Medical University, it was not difficult to understand why the supervisor’s attitude was equally poor....

Payday is at the end of the month

1. There is a famous figure, Shi Yanwen, who likes to act as a behind-the-scenes presence, twisting your words into what she wants to convey to senior management whenever you speak. Those who go along with her survive; those who do not want to participate in office politics are left to fend for themselves.

2. There is someone who seems to think he is in the military. Whenever he wants to talk or has nothing to do, he calls a meeting—countless meetings a day. Ask him anything and he knows nothing; he neither makes decisions nor provides any resources, only saying, “What do you think?” His professional competence and overall ability are terribly poor. He cannot even answer questions properly, giving answers to B when asked about A. He is also afraid that others will not know about his academic background and mentions his qualifications constantly. The sad thing is that, despite pursuing a supposedly high level of education himself (which is not particularly high, as it was at a private university), he cannot use word-processing software, spreadsheets, or presentation tools. All he knows how to do is flatter people and speak up energetically to claim credit when senior management is around.

3. There is someone who is responsible for projects, almost all of which fail, yet he remains unscathed. He chats and disappears during the day, then works overtime at night and complains about how tired he is. He knows the facts behind the scenes. HR even calculates overtime pay for him—he is the only one who gets it. Failed projects endlessly go in circles, with people taking turns being made the scapegoat.

4. Colleagues are cold and only show enthusiasm when gossiping.

1. The unit is seriously understaffed, and routine administrative work cannot be completed. Overtime easily reaches the monthly limit of 54 hours.

2. You often have to work overtime on holidays as needed as well. (You must coordinate accounts and issue work orders, remain on call at all times, and there is also a NT$1 bill each month.)
