The company provides lunch boxes for NT$20 per person per meal. Base salary plus overtime pay is approximately NT$110–130 per hour (overtime calculated according to the Labor Standards Act).
A small birthday cake is provided. Two days off per week. Detailed pay statements are provided. The previous month’s salary is deposited on the 6th of each month. No unpaid wages. Low hiring threshold.
Typhoon days off may be deducted from annual leave or wages. Raises are almost never given. Most employees receive only the minimum wage under the Labor Standards Act (basic wage); in 2017, this was approximately NT$21,000 per month. Daily wages are deducted when taking leave. The production line is noisy, and the working environment is poor. Turnover is very high. Summer is the busy season, and the production line becomes hot. Safety is not taken seriously. There is a 40-minute lunch break at noon. Most workers are middle-aged or older. The year-end bonus is one month’s salary. Supervisory allowances are very small. There have been occupational safety accidents. The company has no on-site medical staff. Machinery and equipment are old and frequently break down. Heavy lifting is required. Employees may have to purchase defective products. Unequal pay for equal work. Approximately NT$800 is deducted from the base salary for labor and health insurance. Employees may leave at any time. Foreign workers receive some special privileges. Most jobs involve rotation.
