Pros

The whole interview gave me the impression that there are basically no benefits—just an emphasis on working overtime.

Cons

Let me tell you about an amusing interview experience from the past.

I applied for a non-engineering position, but during the interview they handed me a C-language test because I had graduated with a degree in computer science.

Fortunately, I could still do about half of it. When they showed me around the workplace, it appeared on the surface that they were explaining the areas I would be responsible for, but in reality they said they hoped everyone would learn every station.

The concept was basically that multifunctional workers would provide support everywhere. When we got to the meeting room and began discussing the actual position, they asked a ridiculous question:

Today, A, B, and C are working. If you are A, you finish your work in six hours; B takes the normal eight hours; but C needs ten hours.

If you were the supervisor, what would you do? I replied, “Of course, if A works quickly and accomplishes more, I’d give A a little extra bonus.”

But they replied, “That’s exactly where you’re wrong. You should go help C. Don’t worry about that bonus for now—just help C.”

“If you do more, your coworkers will naturally speak well of you in front of the supervisor.” Wow... oh my god! What kind of logic is that?

If I do a good job but the supervisor doesn’t notice, I’m supposed to rely on my coworkers to tell them? What idiot would tell the supervisor,

“I’m slow and can only get my work done because A helps me”? Are you freaking stupid? Saying that would be admitting that you’re hurting your own performance evaluation while giving credit to someone else. Idiotic.

So does that mean that no matter how quickly or well I work, if the veterans don’t support me and I don’t curry favor with them, I might as well forget about getting any performance bonus?

Why doesn’t your company deduct the performance evaluation of those redundant employees and let them leave on their own? That would be a more practical way to improve the company’s quality.

They asked when I could start. After hearing all that, I’m not an idiot. The salary was only NT$26,000, including allowances.

Even if you offered me NT$35,000 today, I’d still have to think about it. In the interview, they said there was something constructive I could offer as a suggestion.

But whatever I said during the interview, they had to use their own idiotic way of thinking to argue against it. If you don’t respect professional expertise,

don’t waste each other’s time. That interview really made me feel that every company has some truly terrible supervisors.

Pros

Can't think of any.

Cons

Although it's a foreign company, the interview didn't test any English.

HR confidently promised that they would never ghost candidates like other companies, but I still got ghosted.
