Pros

None

Cons

The abusive manager is the boss’s girlfriend. She has serious emotional problems and will arbitrarily dock people’s pay. To cut costs, she makes one person take on multiple roles, and she often violates labor laws. This woman also frequently screams at people in front of everyone; her character is deeply questionable.

Pros

If you want to improve your overall work skills, consider trying your hand at doing the work of two people on your own.

The salary is the absolute minimum required by the Labor Standards Act. The boss says it will be adjusted later, but a colleague told me, “You’re already out in the workforce—do you still believe things like that?”

The boss is also very enthusiastic about encouraging you and giving you a shining salary target. It reminds me of a hamster running on a wheel—run, run, run, charge ahead.

Cons

You might as well just look at the job title in the posting. On the second day after starting, the production control employee was sent to the packaging room to officially begin packaging work.

Then I noticed that the quality assurance colleague was actually operating machinery in the manufacturing room. When I asked, I found out that only 10 minutes a day actually involved quality assurance.

Another colleague was transferred from the Taichung office to Dajia, without any commuting subsidy or salary increase. He was supposedly in business development, but I saw him working on receiving and returning materials.

So what’s the point of dividing up job titles?

As for the environment, the office has air conditioning, but even with it on, you’ll still be sweating profusely. And at night, the cookies will be stolen—not by ghosts, but by mice.

The warehouse is basically a giant oven. After just one minute, you’ll be drenched in sweat; stay any longer and you might become dehydrated and suffer heat exhaustion.

As for the coworkers, there are good and bad ones. The good ones treat you very well; the bad ones also treat you well, but they’ll have a knife behind your back, so be careful not to get hurt.

Employee turnover is high. Within just a few days of my arrival, a colleague resigned, and a few days later someone else was about to leave. It was like a major round of bloodletting, and before long, I resigned too.

Pros

You can train your resilience and work capabilities.

One person has to do the work of three or four people.

The salary is still just the minimum wage required by the Labor Standards Act.

Train yourself to become the cheap and useful employee that most companies love—great stuff!

Cons

Even setting aside the fact that the salary is several thousand dollars lower than the salary listed for the position on 104, many of the job duties were never mentioned during the interview. The job title is only for show; once you join, you have to do everything anyway. Everyone has the workload of a plant manager but the salary of an intern.

The concept is to trick people into joining first and worry about the rest later. I’ve even heard that one colleague was transferred without warning from the office on Hankou Road in Taichung to Dajia. The commute became longer, yet they received no transportation allowance or salary increase whatsoever.

As for hygiene inside the plant, there’s not much more to say. You often see mousetraps, and there’s no way to know whether the raw materials and supplies have been touched by mice.

The boss has no awareness of disease prevention and often smokes e-cigarettes in the office without wearing a mask. If they happen to carry a virus, it could put employees and their families at risk of infection.

Management only gives employees motivational speeches, telling everyone to work hard together and get through difficult times. They do not reflect at all on the high turnover rate. After all, cheap disposable chopsticks can always be rehired, and employees are expected to do the work of several people for low wages.

If you want a job where you can accumulate experience in several types of work at the same time, give it a try.
