Cons

The incoming stock never stops piling up. If it can’t be put on the shelves, it just gets stacked in the warehouse.

The veteran aunties always rush to grab the tagging gun and label products. After that, they spend the entire day sitting in a chair tagging merchandise.

The part-timers do all the remaining work.

Most of the employees are middle-aged men or aunties.

A married woman joined the store where I worked at the time; she always wore a ring to work.

She had an ordinary, delicate-looking face and was merely thin.

A group of middle-aged men who were starved for affection surrounded her, chatting with her and doing her work for her, while all the work in the store was dumped on the part-timers.

The store manager didn’t care either; they were always outside smoking and shooting the breeze with the vendors at the neighboring stalls.

The standard obedient employee works themselves to death.

2020.06.22 Interview

Position: Accountant, Human Resources Department, Head Office

1. Shortly after submitting my resume, I received an interview notification stating the date, time, and location.

2. The interview took place after I completed the standard application form. They provided detailed information about the salary and situations I might encounter in the future role.

3. Finally, I asked when I would be notified of the interview result. They said that if I were accepted, I would be notified within three days.

Pros

Complies with the Labor Standards Act, which is hard to come by in Kaohsiung.

Cons

At some locations, employees clock out and continue working.

Reserve staff are required to join a LINE group, and only find out their next day's work location that evening; the latest I've experienced was being told at 10 p.m.

They must also check messages in the LINE group at all times, making it impossible to properly rest even on holidays.

Pros

The company is vibrant

Cons

The interviewing manager was extremely disrespectful. During the interview, they repeatedly said things like, “Do you want to leave right away so we don’t waste each other’s time?” They often acted as though they had made some brilliant point, when in fact they were merely making things difficult for the interviewee. No matter what the interviewee answered, they would make sweeping generalizations and continually berate them. It was a very unpleasant experience.

Pros

The company clearly explains its compensation and benefits.

Cons

I interviewed for a graphic design specialist position in the headquarters’ graphic design department.

On the day of the interview, they suddenly told me that there would be no interview yet and that I first had to take a practical test.

They then asked me to use Photoshop to remove the background from a photo and use AI to design a membership card.

Only after I finished did they let me go in for an interview with the supervisor.

The supervisor asked some pointless questions, such as whether I was interested in the position, and said they hoped to recruit someone for the long term.

They also said that many people had come for interviews, creating the impression that it was very difficult to get hired.

The store clerk downstairs said that the turnover in this office was very high and that they did not know how many people had already been replaced. They told me that if I got the job, I would need to be strong.
