During the interview, the interviewer (an associate manager) repeatedly tried to push down the salary. No matter what you said, she would use “no relevant experience” to belittle you for the purpose of lowering the salary. I originally thought I genuinely did not meet the requirements of the position, but after searching online, I discovered that this was the associate manager’s standard tactic when hiring. Everyone who shared their interview experience encountered the same situation. If she thought the applicants had no experience, why invite them to interview in the first place? After they came to the interview, she looked down on and belittled them in every way. This was truly unacceptable!
As for the actual situation after starting work, there was nothing unusual at first. However, around the end of the year, when employees were about to become permanent, one new employee was notified that their probation period would be extended. I initially thought it was because they genuinely had not performed well, but then two other new employees encountered the same situation, and they were not even given a reason. Only then did I realize that this meant all three of them would receive less year-end bonus money. What a tactic.
After the pandemic broke out, the company originally had employees take unpaid leave and planned to help them apply for labor subsidies. Later, however, the government announced that companies could apply for loans, on the condition that they could neither place employees on unpaid leave nor lay them off. The company therefore unilaterally changed all the unpaid leave employees had previously taken to “personal leave.” In other words, employees could no longer apply for subsidies and had their pay deducted for personal leave for no reason. What kind of logic is that? The company completely failed to consider the employees’ position and cared only about the employer’s interests. It was an ugly display.
Finally, because the pandemic affected operations, the company reduced its workforce and unilaterally changed employees’ job duties. Not only did the entire workload have to be handed over to someone else, but the job title and responsibilities were also changed, and the shift was changed from a day shift to a rotating three-shift schedule. When the employee could not accommodate this, the company said they should resign themselves and that it would not handle the matter as a negotiated layoff. This change was decided without asking the employee’s opinion. The employee could not accommodate it, yet the company treated that as the employee’s fault and made them take responsibility by resigning voluntarily. The associate manager was also the one handling this matter. I truly cannot imagine what kind of company this is. It was utterly outrageous.
In short, it would be fine if this company went under. If it does not, do not work there under any circumstances—and do not even go to an interview. You will only end up furious.

The front desk position requires at least one year of experience in the service industry or as an assistant or secretary.
I myself have three years of experience in the service industry,
but during the interview, the supervisor made it clear that experience outside the hotel industry does not count as work experience.
They also did not want to waste time training an employee who is still new to this field.
When it came to discussing benefits, they started talking about how great their company was,
and even said that their advice was that people without experience should not waste their time in the hotel and lodging industry.
I also briefly asked about the business secretary position.
This position was even more outrageous: it involves performance pressure and requires language skills, yet the salary is very low. On top of that, you have to learn the duties of the business hotel front desk and take shifts as well.
You have to work shifts, but the salary is not even NT$30,000. It's really pitiful for a secretary.
