The job bank listing said that applicants with no sales experience were welcome. But when I actually got there, they told me that they don't hire people without experience. Even if they were willing to hire you, they probably wouldn't offer NT$30,000, because you have no experience and NT$30,000 is too much for them.
Then they asked me, “Our HR department currently needs an assistant. Would you like to give it a try?”
I rolled my eyes internally. NT$30,000 is already low enough; if you wanted me to do an administrative job, wouldn't the salary immediately drop to the minimum monthly wage? I clearly applied for a sales position that accepts applicants with no experience, yet they pulled a bait-and-switch on me. How impressive.
Also, when I arrived at the company, someone from HR came to receive me and gave me a basic information form and a simple sales-related questionnaire. Just filling those things out took up 20 minutes of my time. After I finished the written test, HR came over and conducted a basic Q&A with me, which took about 15 minutes.
After that, they went into the office to ask their boss to come out. What left me speechless was that the boss came out and conducted another basic Q&A, asking pretty much the same questions as HR had just asked.
Wait, what? Since the two of you asked the same questions, was that 15-minute conversation with HR just to kill time? This supposed vanguard completely failed to serve any purpose as a first-line screening, and I have absolutely no idea what that HR person was there for. A salary thief, perhaps.
In conclusion, the interviews at this company were unpleasant and extremely inefficient. HR's role in this interview was basically decorative: they posted inaccurate job requirements on 104 and asked applicants to come in for a one-hour interview without even carefully reviewing the resumes they had submitted. May I ask whether they don't know how to use 104 or what? If they wanted to bring in people with experience to exploit them, why didn't they make that clear online from the beginning? Besides, my resume clearly stated that I had no sales experience. Did you invite me there just to waste my time?
I had another interview afterward, and this interview made me late for it. In the end, it still resulted in this infuriating experience. Well, thank you very much.
You can tell right in the interview that the company has communication problems
The manager and HR clearly never communicated.
During the first interview, HR said they would report back to the manager, and that there would be a second interview only if the manager reviewed the assessment and thought it was appropriate.
But what actually happened was that during the second interview, the interviewer asked again about the candidate’s experience and basic résumé details.
They clearly had never looked at the candidate’s information or done any preparation.
Moreover, the job requirements were completely different from what had been stated in the first interview.
They couldn’t even handle basic communication and relaying information properly.
About 80% of the second interview consisted of questions about the previous company and an intrusive background investigation.
It was extremely disrespectful to the candidate.
