Pros

If there were any pros, would I still be here?

And on top of that, it caused me to miss out on better opportunities.

Cons

1. The boss is someone who doesn’t know what they want to do.

2. They have no vision; even the short-term goals are repeatedly changed.

I looked up the company information and discovered that the person in charge isn’t him either—it’s a woman. It seems he’s just a puppet being controlled.

3. They wouldn’t pay more hush money, and instead wrote that I had resigned involuntarily and asked me to go through the unemployment benefits application process so they wouldn’t have to spend any money. Looks like they’re really short on cash!

4. The hot-water switch on the water dispenser is broken, and even the microwave has to be borrowed. There isn’t even a computer, so you might have to bring your own~

I interviewed for a community customer service position, but when I arrived they asked me to do a different job, then said the work location was in Wugu. The Taipei office is also shared with other people. I came here to check the reviews, and sure enough, it’s a startup with a poor reputation.

Pros

1. People who want to claim unemployment benefits or severance pay

2. Learning how to be a difficult customer

Cons

1. Employees’ average tenure is around 2–3 months.

2. The boss loves using voice messages to control things remotely.

3. There are surveillance cameras everywhere in the office (not sure whether there are listening devices too). Once, while we were chatting in the office, the boss (who was in the Maldives) sent a message saying, “What you know is not the whole truth. Stop discussing it.” Does that count as being wiretapped?!

4. At first, the boss explicitly said he would not interfere with design and development, but at every meeting he often gives suggestions and ideas. In the end, we have to do what the boss wants. The presentations and meetings we previously proposed were all a waste of time; employees are not allowed to go against anything he wants to do. (I understand that the person who puts up the money is the boss, so never defy him! Otherwise, you might be the next one to leave. ^^)

4. The boss is related by marriage to Qmomo and often says how much money Qmomo spent and how much return it received… so we can do the same. (We can’t compete in terms of company size, financial resources, or brains.)

5. The boss only remembers what he “wants to remember” and never listens to what employees say.

6. During meetings, he “often” criticizes the factories, companies, and people he previously worked with. He even says, “Of all the mistakes, everyone else is at fault; I’m never at fault.” He also privately criticizes former employees in front of current staff.

7. As the boss of a startup, he does not want to gain an in-depth understanding of meeting or presentation content, and often says something shocking during meetings.

8. The boss “really” does not trust employees and treats them like robots, criticizing them for being inefficient. (I understand that the boss wants results, but employees are people, not machines. We need time to think, and we also need rest.)

9. The boss clearly said bonuses would be paid, but when employees asked about them on payday, he played poor, made all kinds of excuses, and simply did not pay the bonuses. As a boss, going back on your word is unacceptable. Whether to give bonuses is something you should assess yourself—how can you expect employees to cooperate with you?

10. The boss said he was going on a business trip, but in reality he went on vacation to the Maldives, so claiming there was no money to give employees bonuses was just a pretext, right~~

11. Make sure to ask about and clarify these points first: salary / perfect-attendance bonus—NT$2,000 is quite high, but you can try negotiating / performance bonuses / lateness / overtime pay. Otherwise, you’ll be in for a shock when you receive your paycheck!

Finally:

“You know that isn’t the whole truth. Stop discussing it!” Hurry up and apply! Come witness this miraculous moment!

Pros

1. Employee purchase prices

2. Those who want to claim unemployment benefits

Cons

1. Specifically choosing weekends, holidays, or after-work hours to discuss performance with employees, sometimes even in the middle of the night

2. Confirm the salary and bonus system before starting the job (the bonus system is especially important)

3. The company’s systems are inadequate. For example, even confirmation of hiring does not come with a formal offer letter, and the salary structure must be clarified

4. Employees do not stay for more than six months; the average is 2–3 months (during my employment, I saw at least three termination notices issued)

5. The company is related by marriage to Qmomo. From time to time, it uses the other company’s policies to pressure employees to follow suit, despite the huge difference in company size (especially in terms of benefits...)

6. Many job duties not discussed during the interview are added after starting the job, and some of them differ somewhat from the original position

7. Suspicious, overly sensitive, and impulsive senior managers

8. Senior managers have no vision or ideas for the company’s future development—or perhaps they have too many ideas, resulting in frequent changes to the company’s goals

Pros

The person who interviewed me seemed to be the general manager. They had already asked me many relevant questions on 104, and after the interview, they directly told me that they were looking for someone with more experience. However, they also gave me some interview tips and advice.

Cons

The office is a small room on one of the floors of the CTS building, with approximately eight desks arranged together. The company is very small and has also been in operation for less than two years.

WARX socks brand! After the interview, they asked me to start early, but just a few days before my start date, when I asked whether the company provided basic equipment, I was told that they were no longer hiring for the position! They only informed me because I asked. Because of this, I also lost another job I already had!!! Truly awful!
