Pros

The company atmosphere is very cheerful, and the boss hopes to create an environment where people work while having fun.

Because it is a distributor, you can interact with many different manufacturers and products, so there is truly a great deal to learn.

However, because there is so much variety, people without relevant experience will definitely go through an adjustment period at the beginning. That said, the manager has a very strong understanding of industry knowledge and processes. Although I did not have a relevant background, they patiently explained things to us in simple terms so that we could understand. I think it is a good place for people without experience in electronic materials who want to learn.

The company is sales-oriented, so the colleagues are lively, interesting, and easy to get along with. The boss has many connections and resources in the industry and investment circles, so there are opportunities to meet many people.

Cons

Every Monday, the manager buys everyone drinks; the boss sometimes treats us to a meal, and our colleagues also love ordering afternoon tea. It is difficult not to gain weight.

I think the company is more suitable for people with relevant materials or technology-industry experience. Those without experience may have a harder time at first because there is truly a great deal to learn. However, the manager is always happy to teach and share, so asking lots of questions can lead to many valuable insights. When I first joined, none of the people who started at the same time had relevant technology-industry experience. We learned together, and it was quite fun asking each other silly questions. Now everyone can handle clients independently and go out to meet them on their own. It is a place where you can grow quickly.

There are indeed some business dinners and social engagements, but there have been considerably fewer because of the pandemic. Moreover, the manager respects subordinates and asks about their availability and willingness beforehand rather than forcing them. As for drinking, if you enjoy it or are willing to drink, there is an unlimited supply and everyone can have a great time. If you do not like it, you will never be forced.

Pros

The company has quite a lot of snacks, so you can eat to your heart’s content? It’s suitable for people who like drinking and socializing, but other than that, it really has no advantages at all.

Cons

1) Do not believe what they tell you during the interview about providing good training for new hires—that kind of thing does not exist! Basically, they take you out to visit clients for about three weeks, then expect you to work independently and produce results. You are also required to visit at least three clients every day. (When you negotiate your salary with the boss during the interview, the boss will say that you definitely will not have any results when you first join and cut your salary on the spot, but after the three weeks are over, they expect you to produce results immediately??)

2) The company has five teams in total. Since I knew a little Japanese, I was fortunate enough to join the so-called Japan team. The supervisor was Japanese, and there were also two senior colleagues. One of them was the strongest organism on Earth (an old hag), who showed me what it meant to disrespect people from my very first day. Every other word was “newbie, newbie,” and she would tell me what I should do (from wiping the whiteboard to taking out the trash, she would order you to do all kinds of things). She also kept telling you how impressive she had been when she worked at a Japanese company?! Later, I learned from colleagues that she was just a customer-service employee who had been forced into early retirement; she was nowhere near as impressive as she claimed.

To give the simplest example, she could fail to read a supplier’s quotation carefully and tell you to respond to the client with incorrect information. When you told her the information was wrong, she would still insist, righteously, that she was right?! I told her four times before she realized that she had made a mistake. Throughout those four times, I kept explaining why she was wrong, but she simply refused to listen. It is truly outrageous that someone like this is responsible for training new hires.

3) This company requires everyone to submit a daily report. To make the boss think you are impressive and have done a lot, it is best to turn one sentence into three so that your daily report looks long and substantial.

4) Basically, during the interview, just take what the boss tells you about the plans and your future arrangements with a grain of salt. In practice, everything is decided by your supervisor. Even if you tell her that something cannot be done, she will only throw out, “Why can’t you do it?” and silence you.

5) The person in charge of the company has no sense of responsibility and only pushes problems onto subordinates.

6) They take credit for your results. Whenever there is a good result, the supervisor will say it should be put under their name.

7) The culture of drinking and business entertainment is extremely prevalent. If you really enjoy it, I recommend this place. If you do not, you should seriously think it over, because if you cannot participate in these social obligations here, leaving is only a matter of time.

There is really far too much to say....

Pros

I honestly can’t think of any advantages…

As for the salary, I feel it isn’t even enough to serve as hush money~

Cons

What most urgently needs thorough improvement is the excessive number of abusive managers internally. But, ironically… the company has only a little over 10 employees, yet more than half of them hold managerial titles. That’s because anyone who knows how to flatter, fawn over, and curry favor with the big boss can obtain a managerial title. More than 99% of these people are incompetent and abuse their authority, ganging up to bully lower-level colleagues. If they take a dislike to you, they will join forces and do everything they can to harass, torment, mistreat, and make trouble for you. Every day at work is extremely stressful. The salary really feels like it can only be regarded as hush money~

If you are good at playing mind games with this type of person and are also skilled at flattering the boss, you are welcome to apply for an interview, because the turnover rate is extremely high and there are vacancies at any time. As long as you know how to flatter, fawn over, and curry favor with the big boss, perhaps you too could become a vice president of this company in less than a year (there are around 15 people in the company, including more than three vice presidents). The big boss is very generous; once you become a vice president, you can freely deceive him into giving you a company car and a share of the profits, accompany him for eating, drinking, and having fun, and when he is in a bad mood or experiencing various emotional and family problems, you can simply vent his anger on lower-level colleagues by tormenting them. The big boss also has unpredictable moods, though, so if you keep the money in mind, just endure it~

Pros

For those who are new to the industry, this is a great learning environment. Everyone is encouraged to ask questions, and vendors are regularly invited to introduce their products.

Those with industry experience can sell products directly through their networks. The products are very diverse, so you will be exposed to almost everything. Sales staff also have a high degree of autonomy.

Employee benefits are good, and the owner and supervisors take great care of their employees. The company atmosphere is positive.

Cons

There are too many different products, which means there are no fixed products to sell.

You are exposed to a lot, but do not gain much in-depth knowledge.

Pros

If you are new to the industry, you can learn a great deal about it.

Employees are encouraged to ask questions, and many vendors are also arranged to introduce their products.

For those who have already been in the industry for a while and have established their own network, it is easy to get up to speed quickly. The products are diverse, and sales staff have a high degree of autonomy.

The employee benefits are excellent, and the company atmosphere is harmonious.

Cons

Although having a diverse range of products is an advantage, it is also a disadvantage.

Because there are no fixed products to sell, there may be many cases, but you may not be able to gain an in-depth understanding of each one.

Pros

All of my coworkers are very young, and everyone is very nice.

There are lots of snacks to eat.

The boss is very generous; there are always gifts or bonuses during holidays.

I heard that, due to the recent severity of the pandemic, the company donated Fuji Spring Water, which it represents, to major hospitals, and apparently even received a certificate of appreciation.

Because it is a distributor, you come into contact with a wide range of people and get to know many others. The engineers I met through work are still good friends of mine.

I saw other people saying that the company has a culture of business entertaining, but that might have been the company culture in the past. When I was there, there really was hardly any entertaining at all—at most, we would have meals with clients when visiting them. At first, I was a little worried when I saw the comments below mentioning a culture of business entertaining, but after actually joining Quan Mei, I realized that it was really just eating a meal. We also have lunch and dinner normally, so does that count as business entertaining...? Also, regarding the supervisor in her forties mentioned below, I heard that she has already left the company.

I really like this company. The environment is good, and my coworkers are also very nice. If I did not need to return to my family’s factory to help out because of family circumstances, I would really want to stay with the company.

Cons

There is indeed some performance pressure, but the company pays to employ us, so it is understandable that they urge us to meet our targets too...

The boss takes a longer-term view and focuses on the company’s future outlook, but I can only focus on my current performance and cannot think that far ahead...

The company has five departments, but there are not many employees in each department. The scope of responsibilities is too broad, so you need to spend time learning more.

Pros

1. The company frequently hosts dinners and entertainment events. Whether it is internal company dinners or entertaining clients, the frequency is very high. It is highly recommended for people who enjoy singing and drinking.

2. The boss has a private yacht, and there may be opportunities to entertain clients on it. Those interested may want to consider it.

3. For those with experience, the starting salary is negotiable. The boss is fairly generous and willing to offer a lot (although supervisors will cut it down, and year-end and three-festival bonuses will also be reduced by supervisors before being given to employees).

4. Entertainment expenses, business entertainment expenses, taxi fares, and mobile phone call charges are all easy to claim. The boss is quite generous with money.

5. The colleagues are all fairly easy to get along with (although it seems they have all resigned).

Cons

1. The entertainment culture is highly subjective: people who like it may like it a lot. Everyone at the company loves drinking, and they like to hire young, recent female graduates as sales representatives, requiring them to wear high heels, short skirts, and clothing that exposes their shoulders and backs. During entertainment events, they are expected to accompany clients in singing and dancing. There is a married female supervisor in her 40s who, during entertainment events, straddles male clients’ laps, removes clients’ shirts, ties their ties around their foreheads, and dances while pressing and rubbing her body against theirs. For men, being able to drink is a definite requirement, and they may be forced to drink. Only consider this company if you can accept this culture.

2. There is no training system, so applicants without relevant industry experience are not recommended. During interviews, they say they will train you until you are capable, but after you join, they only give a brief explanation and then expect you to learn on your own. Supervisors say that you can ask about any problems, but in practice they are indifferent when asked, so you can only ask colleagues you are closer to (though most colleagues have already resigned).

3. The turnover rate is extremely high because the company’s supervisors behave differently in public and in private. On the surface, they say they take good care of their subordinates, but in reality they spread rumors and slander them behind their backs. They may even take credit for sales results, or put only the profitable sales under their own names while passing difficult and thankless tasks to subordinates. As a result, the turnover rate among the company’s frontline sales staff is extremely high. Even after employees resign, company supervisors continue telling other colleagues that they were careless in their work and were “rotten strawberries.”

4. The company lacks integrity. When clients need product inspection reports, senior company managers take the lead in falsifying data and instruct sales staff to deceive clients by pretending that the products fully meet their requirements. When facing competition from other companies in the same industry, previously agreed-upon terms can be broken for the sake of profit. They may also pretend to cooperate with competitors while secretly competing with them for clients. The company shows no integrity toward its industry peers either.

5. There is no bonus system. During interviews, they say that performance bonuses are available, but even after a long delay, there is still no specific bonus system. Moreover, bonuses are controlled by supervisors and depend on how much each supervisor is willing to give. Some supervisors may take a cut first, with only the remainder being distributed to subordinates.

Pros

Highly recommended for people who enjoy hotel culture and drinking.

The alcohol is free and unlimited here.

Cons

1. The drinking-and-entertaining culture is pervasive. You need to be available whenever called, and are often notified in the afternoon that you have to attend an evening engagement. These engagements can last until 11 p.m. or midnight. The next day, you are expected to come to work as usual despite being hungover. You are required to dress revealingly and engage in hugging and other physical contact with clients, and are forced to drink and accompany clients while they sing and dance. However, no overtime pay is provided for these evening engagements. Carefully consider whether you can accept this culture.

2. The company’s policies are unclear. Sales staff receive only a base salary and no sales performance bonuses. There are only mid-year and year-end bonuses, but there are no clearly defined criteria for awarding them; they are simply distributed based on how pleased the owner and the mood of the supervisor are. Some supervisors deliberately cut bonuses, mainly claiming that the company is operating at a loss and that everyone needs to share the difficulties. There are no perfect-attendance bonuses or employee trips. If you care about the bonus system, you should inquire carefully about it.

3. There is no training. As soon as you join the company, you are told to get out and visit clients as quickly as possible. You are not informed about the products and are expected to use your personal connections to arrange meetings right away. There is no system for managing product information; you are simply given product materials to read. Expired products have previously been relabeled and sold. Whenever a new agency or supplier is approached, employees are repeatedly asked to go on visits despite the lack of proper market research.

4. There are many two-faced people. Supervisors with ulterior motives take the lead in charging meals to the company account, then claim that subordinates submitted improper expense reports. Subordinates are asked to do miscellaneous tasks; although clients are ostensibly assigned for relationship maintenance, in reality they are expected to work for the supervisor, while the sales performance remains credited to the supervisor. You need to curry favor by helping, making tea, buying meals, and reading the supervisor’s mood. Supervisors often arrange to accompany sales staff on client visits, but then fail to show up, leaving the clients in an awkward position. Staff turnover is extremely high, and sales employees frequently resign. The company has no intention of improving and only focuses on recruiting new sales staff.

Anyone considering joining should think carefully about whether they can accept this.
