Read the community guidelinesThe boss doesn’t know much about the Labor Standards Act, so if you know more than he does, you can use that to pressure him. The current salary is reportedly relatively high compared with others in the same industry. If you have studied evidence collection and regulations, you should be able to get by, more or less. I recommend that people who are “not” passionate about board games join (of course, you don’t need to say this in the interview).
The turnover rate is extremely high. In less than a year, nearly the entire company—apart from the boss and the accountant—will have been replaced again.
Management is extremely authoritarian, and the boss’s scheming is painfully obvious: credit always goes to the employees the boss likes, while any blame goes to the people the boss wants to drive out.
The company’s reputation in the industry... If you’re applying for a sales or marketing position, contacting people externally to seek partnerships will be very difficult.
Sales staff in particular are held to extremely demanding standards by the boss. Historically, salespeople have either had to muddle through or resolve things behind the scenes.
But whenever anything goes wrong, every problem is treated as an individual sales employee’s fault.
The boss also loves badmouthing employees behind their backs, and after they leave, the stories become even more exaggerated.
Do not believe any of the many promises about raises.
Also make sure the job responsibilities are clearly explained. The worst cases I encountered were two interviews where I was told I would be working on products, only to be switched to marketing immediately after joining.
If you just want to enter the board-game industry, joining to pad your résumé is still OK, since all newcomers get a honeymoon period.
But it is not suitable for long-term planning; even the most submissive employees are eventually driven away.
