Pros

There are no problems among the employees; everyone is very united. They can also talk at length about the company’s situation. As for the company itself, I really have no comment.

Cons

The bosses keep instilling in employees that the company is very good and has great prospects, but the employees who handle shipments and carry out the work do not agree at all with the rosy future the company assumes for itself.

Each boss has a different way of doing things, and they show very little empathy toward employees.

There are piles of heavy items. Climbing and carrying heavy loads during shipping work is extremely dangerous, but the bosses do not care and have never considered how to adjust the workspace to make it safer.

There are many bosses, all family members.

However, each has different ideas, and we often do not know whose instructions should take priority.

Office staff are expected to know how to do everything. One person is used as many people, while salaries have never increased. The promised bonus targets also came to nothing. Even phone calls cannot be handled collaboratively: sometimes a call is clearly for one of the supervisors, but it is often pushed onto employees to answer and relay, even though there is no context or clear direction on how to handle it.

They say they follow government regulations, yet the supervisors are the people who understand the law the least. Even when they have time, they do not attend training or keep up with new legal information.

Newcomers are expected to work overtime as soon as they arrive, as if it were only natural. If they work slowly, do not know to ask questions, or become impatient, things are dictated to them without first understanding the relevant work situation.

Urgent tasks are frequently inserted, and work that was originally supposed to proceed is also changed at the last minute. There is very little understanding of processes.

If you want to experience how chaotic the bosses and the company’s operations are, come and work here.

Pros

All relevant regulations comply with the Labor Standards Act.

If you are interested in patchwork-related handicrafts, you should gain something from the experience

(but the main products sold are “material kits,” rather than finished products).

Snacks are provided in the office, and you can take them freely during breaks.

Cons

Traditional manufacturing industry, family-owned business, and high employee turnover.

The company has two addresses: a retail store and a factory. Unless there are unforeseen changes, the work location will be the factory.

Unless the company relocates, the location is near the Yongkang Industrial Park. There is a lot of traffic at the intersection, including many large trucks, so please pay attention to safety.

If you are applying for a position handling inventory and shipping,

The duties include:

Climbing up high and carrying heavy items, cutting fabric, measuring fabric dimensions, counting quantities, photocopying product information, packaging and boxing goods, etc.

The work environment is somewhat cluttered and prone to dust. Overtime may occasionally be required, and the job involves standing for long periods.

—

If you are applying for an editor/content assistant position,

The duties include:

Taking product photos, editing images, scanning fabric, creating advertising copy and layouts, publishing posts regularly, answering customer service calls, replying to the company’s Line messages, listing and delisting products, proposing product development ideas, etc.

You may occasionally need to film videos introducing products to customers and viewers, and you may need to appear on camera.

Product photos are sometimes taken by other people and sent by email. They may arrive relatively late, which could result in overtime. Alternatively, the photos may be for a different product than the one originally scheduled for publication, so you need to keep checking the progress.

Sometimes a supervisor may be dissatisfied with the product photos. In that case, you will need to explain your concept or design philosophy to persuade them.

The need to retake photos is also fairly frequent.

You need to look at a screen for long periods, and overtime may sometimes be required.

—

Depending on the position, you may need to attend one scheduled meeting every week. The length of each meeting varies. You will need to travel from the factory to the store for meetings, although meetings are occasionally held directly at the factory.

The main meeting topics include:

Reviewing recent problems, brainstorming new promotional offers, developing new products (everyone must propose a new product concept each week), planning each day’s activities and promotions for the month, discussing newly purchased products, etc.

Unexpected tasks are also frequently added, so please confirm the order of priorities with your supervisor first.

Also, because there are so many fabric colors and patterns, whether cutting or scanning fabric, looking at them for too long can cause some discomfort.

Learn to recognize human nature

Cons

Seriously, the son is completely a mama's boy. He is full of ideals, but immediately gives in whenever the chairwoman speaks up. The family's salaries account for half of the monthly income—how could the company possibly make money? Whenever the chairwoman wants to refute her son's opinions, she never speaks to him directly. Instead, she suppresses the design work to make her son back down. The mama's-boy son knows this, and he also knows that the problem is not with the design, yet he still won't stand up for the design. The chairwoman is very good at playing both sides. The company only provides one iPhone for photographing products, while the chairwoman's second son uses a 12,000-yuan photography setup, then uses it to criticize the design team for having insufficient equipment. He also keeps making personal attacks, saying things like, "My son takes photos that look like they were taken by a brand designer. What kind of thing are you taking?" When I tried to explain, he coldly said, "I don't want to hear any of your explanations. They're all just excuses. I think it's a people problem, not an equipment problem." He said this to the designer and kept repeating it to other colleagues, just to get them to agree with him. In summer, they even stipulated that the air conditioner could not be turned on unless the temperature exceeded 33°C. If you asked her about turning it on, she would decide based on her mood and say, "I don't feel hot." Of course she didn't feel hot—the only fan was blowing directly at her. When her son wanted to turn on the air conditioner, she wouldn't say anything. Their family has many, many other problems. In short, if your designs have substance but their family lacks the depth to appreciate them, save yourself the time and leave as soon as possible. I didn't stay there long either—I left as soon as I could. The designs really changed every day, with no consistent principles at all.

Pros

The turnover rate is extremely high; there is basically no consistent style at all. The designs change every day, and the tone keeps changing every day!

Cons

Same as what was said above.

When sales are poor, they simply blame the designers, interfere with the designs, and make them even uglier after revising them. After giving lots of opinions, they still blame the designers when sales are poor, yet they never reflect on themselves or their family. (Hello~ Why not think about your own marketing problems? You keep releasing material packs every day, driving everyone to death. If you want to make money from consumers, this isn’t how you do it.)

There aren’t many employees, yet they are constantly forming little cliques. Everyone has their own schemes and ulterior motives; basically, no one can be trusted.

The mother-in-law is okay, but all the problems come from the daughter-in-law.

They always make things seem very simple without understanding how hard they are for the person doing them. They have lots of opinions but never say them directly, and are always manipulating their husband behind the scenes, making him come out and change this and that. (That’s not how you should dote on your wife, okay? You don’t even understand the situation or the problem before making a mess of things over there.)

They always pretend to be busy at work and take it for granted that they can push the work onto others. Their greatest talent is that mouth of theirs: they can twist right and wrong, and you can’t win an argument with them. Even if you do win, you’re still doomed (because they will act pitiful in front of their husband, and afterward he will think you are the one with serious problems).

Product design basically receives no respect here. It’s the concept of wanting the horse to be fat while also not letting it eat grass.

The advantage is that you will learn very quickly here (because one person has to do the work of two people).

Honestly, it’s just a company that operates in a complete mess!

But because the turnover rate is extremely high, several people have been replaced in a year, so there is practically nothing good about it.

Cons

A family that runs the company recklessly and has many opinions. The boss’s daughter often makes comments after the fact. When the company has no revenue and sales are poor, they only blame the designers for not following unspoken rules. They interfere with the design, but it becomes even uglier after the changes. After expressing many opinions, they still blame the designers when sales are poor, yet they have never reflected on themselves or their own family. The company seems to have been opened just for them to meddle recklessly.
