A self-righteous boss
Doesn't seek to improve at all
Thinks that receiving a salary means they can exploit employees to the fullest
And their emotions flare up at the drop of a hat
Extremely unreasonable
A few customers’ dogs are very, very well-behaved... This is the only thing I’m reluctant to let go of...
1. When the business was still on Wenchang Street, the owner would hide in the B1 basement monitoring and eavesdropping on employees. Perhaps many bosses do this sometimes, but this owner took it to an extreme—he could hide downstairs watching the surveillance cameras all day.
2. The job advertisement was for a groomer, but I had to do everything, including washing the shop’s dogs and cats (which I could let go), working as a store clerk, looking after the boarding dogs and cats, walking dogs, and pet-sitting. The owner would stay downstairs and never come up or help. On top of that, he would call the front desk every so often, with the sole purpose of making sure you watched the entrance.
3. The owner handled all grooming appointments, whether booked in advance or not. Each appointment was scheduled for two hours (with no drying kennel). Basically, anything you discussed with a customer would be contradicted by the owner, who would say, “That’s not what happened. You have two hours!” Then, when there were matted animals, double-coated animals, aggressive cats, or multiple animals from one household all arriving at once, he would turn around and complain that I was too slow.
4. The most immoral thing happened once when I received a boarding cat that had never been washed before (boarding animals here had to be bathed before going home!). The owner clearly knew that the cat’s owner herself couldn’t even touch the cat, let alone put it on the grooming table, and she directly told the groomer, “Don’t wash her. She’s really resistant and nervous!” But the owner blatantly lied and said, “She’s obviously very well-behaved. You can handle her!” Then he closed the grooming room, put on bite-proof gloves himself, and told me to hurry up and spray the dry-cleaning solution. I said, “The cat has its mouth open and is already panting. We really can’t agitate her any further! She could go into shock!”
He said, “It’s not that serious. Hurry up and spray it!” Later, the cat scratched me badly, leaving a long wound that bled heavily. I told the owner, “I’m injured, so we shouldn’t force the cat either.” The owner said, “Isn’t this just an occupational hazard for groomers? The wound isn’t that bad. Keep working!” I really couldn’t bring myself to do these things against my conscience. After that, once I finished the appointments, I wanted to leave, but at the time the owner said that 7 p.m. was the official end of the workday. So I sat in the grooming room and waited until 7 (because there were no more dogs to wash, and I didn’t want to sit in the sales area). At 6:30, the owner came up and said to me, “Are you waiting to die?”
I actually recorded everything and really wanted to sue, but my family thought I should just let it go. Still, I truly hope that one day this owner gets what’s coming to him, or that a shop run by such a heartless boss soon goes out of business and closes down. Please stop harming groomers!!!
