Pros

1. You can make many good friends because the turnover is so high.

2. Since you are a dispatched worker, you are not valued and receive no benefits, so you do not need to take the job too seriously. It suits people who have no expectations or passion for work. You can also keep taking leave; all that happens is that your pay gets deducted.

3. The upper management often fights, providing a full experience of all kinds of emotional workplace theatrics.

4. The long-serving permanent employees slack off in all sorts of ways, so you can learn how they push the work onto dispatched employees who receive only a meager salary and no benefits.

5. Ultimately, it gives you the sobering realization that you need to seriously consider future jobs, so you will not be treated as a second-class citizen again.

Cons

1. It is absolutely impossible to become a permanent employee.

2. They like to recruit people under the bank’s name, even though it is actually a completely different company.

3. They once dangled the promise of converting dispatched employees to permanent status, but it has never actually happened.

4. Dispatched employees often resign en masse. When no one can be found during the handover period, one person has to shoulder the workload of several people.

5. Upper management enjoys coming up with all kinds of schemes to organize events that let dispatched employees watch permanent employees enjoy various benefits and activities. Yet those profits rely on recruiting a huge number of dispatched employees to save on labor costs.

6. Even though they know dispatched employees receive no benefits, managers ignore labor laws and explicitly or implicitly pressure employees to work overtime. After leaving the company late at night, all you get is a humiliatingly low salary.

Pros

1. You can get onboarded at the fastest possible speed; all you need is to have graduated from a university law department and be human.

2. Supervisors don’t yell at people or keep too close an eye on them. As long as you meet your performance targets, you can largely do what you want (except chat with coworkers).

3. It’s in central Taipei, very close to an MRT station.

4. The company name carries weight.

5. It fully complies with the Labor Standards Act, and having detailed pay statements makes applying for a credit card very convenient.

6. The coworkers are all very nice. Everyone has the same goal and supports one another.

7. You can learn workplace survival skills through ecological observation.

Summary: If you graduated from law school, are going crazy from studying for the bar exam, and have absolutely no work experience, this can be an option for earning living expenses and rejoining society—as long as you can accept the drawbacks after reading them.

Cons

1. The pay is very low—an eternal NT$25,000—and labor and health insurance premiums are deducted. It is also almost impossible to get a raise, with no other bonuses or benefits whatsoever.

2. There are only two options: dispatched work or contract employment. If you really have to choose, dispatched work is better than contract employment.

3. To comply with the Labor Standards Act, the contract can be for no more than one year; once the time is up, you will be told to leave.

4. You may accidentally get caught in the crossfire when certain full-time employees fight among themselves.

5. The higher-ranking the full-time employees, the more they micromanage trivial matters. You should understand that contract workers have low status and no human rights in the company. They can do the same things openly, but you cannot.

6. Because contract workers never stay long, many things are simply left to rot, and plenty of surprises will be waiting for you.

7. Unless you go around learning about different positions, you will only learn one step in the debt-collection process.

Summary: It is an opportunity to practice enduring humiliation and bearing burdens.
