There is a coffee machine and milk available for you to make coffee and drink yourself.

Cons

1.

Be careful with the supervisor who contacted you about the interview and the parachuted-in sales manager—the two of them are extremely scheming! On the surface, they act as though they have nothing against you and smile when talking to you, but they actually bad-mouth you behind your back!

In particular, the accounting, HR, and administration supervisor is the source of the company’s problems. She can scold anyone she dislikes for doing anything, and will even complain to others when a colleague chats with another colleague, saying that person loves to act overly familiar. She is also extremely possessive: if a colleague she thinks is “very close” to her chats with someone else, she immediately gets jealous. For example, when that colleague said to another colleague, “Am I your best partner at the company?”, she immediately changed her expression 🙄️

As for the sales manager, she is the person who decides whether you stay or leave, because she is the boss’s friend. So if she dislikes someone or wants to dismiss someone, all she has to do is tell the boss and you immediately lose your job! But you cannot tell from her behavior that she dislikes you, because she is very good at pretending! Previously, she asked me to teach a colleague how to enter orders, and at the time she smiled and said to me, “You’re very patient.” The next second, she immediately told the boss to dismiss me. It was truly disgusting 🤮. After deciding to dismiss me, she and the accounting supervisor also squeezed every last bit of work out of me, dumping a pile of orders on me to key in and insisting that I finish them all that day. I could not leave work until they were done, because the colleagues handling shipments needed them the next morning. This forced me to work unpaid overtime until 21:30. Then the next day, the boss said that they had decided to dismiss me. They were truly shameless ^_^.

Oh, and on the day they decided to dismiss me, the accounting, HR, and administration supervisor also told the sales manager that she wanted me to leave directly at 16:00 and use up the compensatory-leave hours I had applied for in previous days, simply because “she didn’t want to calculate and pay me” ^_^? She also showed my salary information to the head of the marketing department. I wonder whether that is illegal 🤔

Oh, and both of these types of “supervisors” are mothers now. I truly feel sorry for their sons and am ashamed that they have mothers like this.

The turnover rate is extremely high. In just the one month I worked at the company, four colleagues resigned.

Labor insurance is not necessarily provided on your first day. It depends entirely on the mood of the accounting, HR, and administration supervisor: whenever she feels like enrolling you, that is when she does it. The labor and health insurance salary bracket will be set two levels lower than it should be. For example, if they discuss a salary of 28,000 with you, the company should enroll you under the 28,800 bracket, but instead it will enroll you under the 25,600 bracket. On the surface, this looks like the company is helping employees save on their own share of labor and health insurance premiums, but in reality it is helping the company reduce its insurance costs, while manipulating the salary statement to make everything look reasonable.

4.

Overtime is routine, but it is treated as part of your responsibilities, and you will not receive compensatory leave. The only exceptions are major company-wide inventory counts or night shifts, for which compensatory leave is provided—but none of this will be mentioned during your interview.

5.

The salary listed on the employment website is only written that way to avoid trouble with the government. No matter what amount is listed, they will discuss a salary of 28,000 with you during the interview. The standard script is: “You have no experience, so you have to start as an assistant.”

6.

The position you apply for actually makes no difference (except marketing), because no matter which position you apply for, you will have to help with everything in the company. If you do not help, the supervisor will call you in and scold you. Examples include packing orders, quality inspection, and bagging.

7.

The company sells high-end clothing and apparel—the cheapest item starts at $3,000, and the most expensive costs over $10,000—yet it cannot afford a cleaning lady. Employees take turns cleaning each week, and someone is also assigned to inspect the cleaning.

8.

As long as someone is disliked by the “supervisors,” no matter how minor the mistake, they will bad-mouth that person through internal messages and WhatsApp. One of the supervisors will even call your extension after scolding you and tell you to be more careful at work.

9.

Salary payments are often late. They said salaries would be paid on the 5th of each month, with payment postponed if it fell on a holiday, but I did not receive my September salary until October 7. The accounting, HR, and administration supervisor would also shift the blame to the boss, saying that the salary could not be transferred because the boss had not stamped the documents.

10.

The company occasionally orders lunch for employees. If you are a picky eater and a colleague disliked by the two mother supervisors, you should be careful. As soon as they hear that you do not eat something, they will deliberately order it. For example, if you do not eat Thai food, they will deliberately say they are going to order from瓦城. They also exclude people when ordering drinks: they ask everyone except you, and you only find out that they ordered drinks when they arrive.

11.

The accounting, HR, and administration supervisor says every day that there are too many things to do and that she can never finish them, because she spends every workday busy using WhatsApp to bad-mouth colleagues, so of course she cannot finish ~. She also keeps saying that she wants to resign, which affects her colleagues’ mood at work. But I heard she had been saying that since the beginning of the year, and even after I left, she was still working herself to the bone at this company ^_^.

12.

The two mother supervisors constantly ask about your personal information and private life, such as your zodiac sign, family, whether you have a boyfriend, how long you and your partner have been together, what you enjoy doing as a couple, and where you met. If your parents are divorced, they will even ask how your stepfather or stepmother treats you 🙄️

13.

The sales manager thinks she is a zodiac expert. Every time, she first asks a colleague what their zodiac sign is. After getting the answer, she always follows up with, “You look exactly like an XX sign! You’re so similar!” But when asked what makes them similar, she cannot explain and just keeps repeating, “You just really look like one!” She also cannot explain the characteristics of that sign. If she cannot guess a colleague’s sign or guesses incorrectly, she will say, to save face, “You don’t look like an XX sign at all! Not even a little!”

Pros

The office atmosphere is relaxed; you can eat, chat, and do things like that while working.

Cons

At first, during the interview, the company seemed OK, but after joining I discovered that it was actually very much not OK.

Because it is a small company of around 15 or 16 people, HR is a part-time responsibility. On my first day, when I went to submit the required documents, HR said they were busy and had no time, and asked me to bring them the next day. The next day they still had no time, so it was delayed until the third or fourth day after I started before the onboarding was completed. Many basic policies and benefits, such as the payday, overtime pay, and enrollment in insurance, were not explained proactively; they only answered when I asked.

After carefully reading the employment contract and confidentiality agreement I signed, I discovered that they were both unfair contracts. For example, if the company felt an employee was unsuitable, it could tell them to leave at any time, while an employee who wanted to resign had to give ten days’ notice. After I signed, HR said they would take the documents to the boss for a signature. When I asked for them a few days later, HR said the boss still had not signed them. Several more days passed before they gave them to me, and they only had the company seal and the boss’s stamp on them.

Regarding labor insurance enrollment, I was initially told that I would be enrolled on my first day of employment. HR said that this was not how the company’s rules worked: they first had to observe my work performance, then discuss it with the boss, and would only enroll me once they felt my work situation was stable. A few days later, they said they had enrolled me. However, when I checked with the Labor Insurance Bureau some time later, I found that the enrollment date was neither my start date nor the date HR had told me. I started at the beginning of the month, but they did not enroll me until the latter part of the month. On my last day, they said my insurance would be canceled either that day or the next. After a week, I checked again and it still had not been canceled; it was only canceled several days later, although the cancellation date was the day after I left.

Most of the people at the company are young, but it is obvious this is not because it is a startup or because the company is particularly outstanding. It is because they cannot find people and the turnover is high. The company’s systems are very disorganized, and many things are constantly delayed. In addition to my contract being given to me late, one coworker still had not received their contract after working there for a month; HR only went looking for it after the coworker asked. The company uses a sign-in system, but the sign-in sheets often were not produced until several days later. Even after they were printed, no one would announce it, so everyone had to search for them every day. They also said there were uniforms, but I still had not received one even after leaving the company.

The company says it uses a responsibility-based system and does not pay overtime, which alone is illegal. On top of that, we worked overtime almost every day. The business department was relatively better, but the planning department worked overtime every day. The scheduled end time was 6:30 p.m., but actually leaving at 7:00 or 7:30 was the norm. My supervisor and coworkers even thought this was normal, but during the interview they never mentioned that regular overtime would be expected. When payday came, they also said that because I was a new employee, my information had not yet been entered into the system and the boss could only come in the next day to handle it, so I would receive my salary one day later than everyone else. But I had already been there for a month—it was not as if I had only just arrived two days earlier and payday happened to come around. They also deducted NT$2,400 for meals, even though I did not feel that I had received anything worth that amount. When enrolling me in insurance, the company did not include the meal deduction in the insured salary either.

I originally applied for a specialist position, with a stated salary range of NT$35,000–40,000. They said that because I had no experience, I could only work as an assistant, and cut the salary to NT$28,000. After joining, I discovered that many people were being paid an assistant’s salary while doing full-time staff work.

I really cannot recommend this company at all.
