Pros

1. Conveniently located near an MRT station

2. The environment is clean, tidy, and bright

3. A business blueprint full of ideals and ambitions; they paint a very grand picture

Cons

Conclusion first: Run!

1. Currently, there are no employees besides the boss. Everyone has been fired for reasons such as poor internal controls or incompatibility with the company’s理念, etc. The first employee hired is expected to take on all the work until other colleagues can be found to share it, yet the company is not particularly proactive about recruiting people.

2. During the interview, they said that as long as you are willing to learn, they are willing to teach. In practice, when I asked questions after starting work, I got responses like: “Can you tell me which notes you just reviewed? What questions did you research? After you point them out, they repeatedly ask, ‘So what do you think should be done? What next?’” You ask because you do not know—that is why you seek guidance and ask questions. If this is their way of teaching, employees would not have any questions at all!

They do not teach; they only criticize your abilities and say they are very different from what was demonstrated in the interview. But the promises before and after being hired are also very different, aren’t they? Someone who can figure things out at a glance would not willingly accept such meager compensation! It just feels like they say one thing but do another.

3. Everything must be learned and judged independently, regardless of whether they are available. Asking questions too frequently will get you scolded. This includes transferring calls—you have to learn to sense whether the boss is willing to answer. There is no absolute rule; you can only rely on experience.

Pros

Willing to accommodate me with a video interview

Cons

Because I was not in Taipei, we arranged a video interview.

The interview was scheduled for 16:30 that day.

A little after 1 p.m. that afternoon, I received a Line message from the interviewer asking me to fill in some information.

I had other interviews scheduled that day and really did not have time to fill it out before the interview.

During a brief break after another interview, I asked whether I could return it after the interview.

During the interview, they asked me some questions,

and also asked me for samples of my copywriting work.

After reviewing them, they asked me questions about other areas.

Finally, they asked: “Do you have e-commerce experience?”

Me: “No.”

“We’re looking for someone with e-commerce experience, so we’ll end it here.”

Me: “Okay.”

After the interview, I honestly felt that it had been a waste of time.

Although the interview only took 10 minutes and was conducted by video,

I had to learn about the company beforehand, and I also had to spend time waiting for the interview to take place.

So I sent them a message to let them know.

The other party complained that I had interviewed in home clothes. I indeed was not dressed very formally; that was my oversight.

I was wearing a cotton sleeveless top, but my outfit was not particularly sloppy or careless.

The top did not expose my chest or back; it was simply rather casual.

The message record is below.

Hello,

Thank you for your time today.

I saw that this position on 104 had already been closed.

Since your company had already found a candidate before interviewing me today,

you could have told me that the interview was canceled.

There was no need to waste 10 minutes interviewing me and reviewing my work, then asking other questions before finally getting to the matter of e-commerce experience, saying that you were looking for someone with e-commerce experience, and then rejecting me.

The information on my résumé was clearly stated. If there were any questions, you could have messaged me first and then decided whether to schedule an interview.

Thank you.

Company

Position: Brand Marketing Planner (E-commerce) (Position closed)

Ms. X,

Thank you for your feedback. We have not yet found a candidate; the 104 job advertisement simply expired. Compared with experience, we actually place more importance on attitude. We had already provided the interview information form beforehand. Not returning it before the interview would have been fine, but interviewing in home clothes and then writing to accuse us of wasting your time is something we have encountered for the first time. Thank you for broadening our horizons. We wish you success in finding a job!

Hello,

1. The interview information form was only sent to me this afternoon.

When I received it, I already had another interview scheduled that afternoon.

I genuinely did not have time to complete it during those four hours before the interview.

2. I do not consider what I was wearing to be home clothes. It was simply a cotton sleeveless top and was not very formal.

I also think my attire was better than what you see some people wearing to work outside.

If it gave you the impression that it was home clothes, I apologize.

3. I understand; it had simply expired.

Your company asked me some questions and ultimately rejected me based on one question: whether I had e-commerce experience.

If this is a necessary criterion for your company, yet you did not ask about it before the interview,

and after the interview received a complaint from the interviewee but were unwilling to offer even an apology,

that also gave me an opportunity to broaden my horizons.

Thank you!

Additional note: The information was requested so urgently.

Even if I had not had another interview scheduled today, I might have had other matters to attend to.

There was no need for me to fill it out immediately just because your company sent it to me.

Moreover, after receiving the message this afternoon, I did reply:

--- asking whether I could return it to your company after the interview.

Thank you.
