Pros

1. There is no need to clock in or out, you can leave early if you have something to do, and there is no limit on the number of times you can take leave, nor is your salary deducted. If a designated make-up workday falls on a national holiday, you do not have to work. Behind these benefits, however, is the fact that this is a position based on responsibilities, meaning that time off after work and on holidays is not truly time off (at least that was the case for my position).

2. Both of the company’s founders are highly capable and very kind to employees, without any airs. The boss’s wife often treats us to wonderful meals—she is incredibly nice!!

3. The company’s products have tremendous potential and a very promising future. Success is within reach!

4. The company’s office building is very impressive, and the work environment is comfortable, bright, and pleasant.

5. The vast majority of colleagues are very easy to get along with, and each is exceptionally talented and capable. They would help you at work, and privately would eat together, sing karaoke, and share personal thoughts. However, almost all of these colleagues were from other departments, so I was very reluctant to leave them when I resigned. I would recommend avoiding a very small minority of people.

6. The company’s organizational structure is continually developing toward becoming a publicly listed company. A supervisor who truly understands design has also joined the company. It was just unfortunate that we met so late; they helped shield me from some unreasonable workloads and handled things in a more organized manner. Perhaps things will continue to improve in the future.

7. The company’s snack cabinet is often restocked by kind-hearted people who share snacks with everyone.

8. During the pandemic, the company offered the option of working remotely from home. In fact, on regular workdays, you could also apply to work from home if you had a short-term personal matter to take care of.

Cons

1. As a startup, the company has limited resources, and there is only one visual designer position. Therefore, no one can cover for you when you take leave, and tasks just continue to pile up. I did not even dare take leave when I was unwell. After my miscarriage, I did not take the seven days of legally mandated rest leave because I was afraid of delaying the work schedule. Furthermore, one month before I announced my resignation, I still had not used all of my statutory annual leave. The leave benefits vary significantly depending on the position.

2. Before the new supervisor who understood design arrived, the person temporarily acting as my supervisor did not understand design. You can read the review written elsewhere as well. Working under this person was extremely painful, and their emotional management was very poor. Many things were not your fault—they were caused by delays from external parties or mistakes by contractors—but you would still be scolded. Work was continuously dumped on you, and you would also be contacted to work on and revise things after hours or during holidays. They never considered whether you could handle the workload.

As another young woman, she eventually even told me, “If you become pregnant in the future, you may not be able to handle the workload. I advise you to resign on your own.” This is an obviously gender-discriminatory statement that violates the right to equality in employment under labor law. Therefore, I personally do not recommend that women who plan to have children apply for this position.

3. There is a female employee at the company whose values align very closely with those of the temporary supervisor—someone who is willing to devote her life to the company regardless of how much she is paid. This person would mercilessly and rudely use her “outstanding” values to judge your attitude toward the job, and would even tell you, in a self-important manner as if she were the company’s owner, that you were not suited to the company. It was truly frightening.

If your values, as someone reading this review, are like mine—that is, you want to have your own time after work to take care of your family or pursue your own life—please think carefully about whether this position is suitable for you, or make sure to protect yourself after joining. Everyone else at the company is very easy to get along with!

4. The company is growing very quickly, so you must improve your abilities and grow along with it; otherwise, you will be eliminated. However, the constant overtime and heavy workload leave you with no time or energy of your own to schedule classes or further training. I paid for courses myself, but I still had not finished them by the time I resigned. Applicants whose abilities are not yet strong enough and who, like me, need further education to keep up with the company’s growth may need to think carefully about how to allocate their time after “actually finishing work.”

Pros

The environment is beautiful?

Cons

I interviewed for a web designer position, but the interviewer was not a designer. They had not reviewed my application materials beforehand and immediately asked how I would redesign the company’s existing homepage. When I asked about the requirements, their answers were completely off-topic. They kept demanding answers as if all designers could read minds.
