Pros

The boss often travels for work

Cons

The company policies are as described by the person above. Additional information:

1. During interviews, the boss says that everything complies with the Labor Standards Act, but the company's version of the Labor Standards Act is the one from when the company was founded (in the 70s or 80s of the ROC calendar), and it was drafted by a law student who had just graduated from university at the time.

This is not meant to criticize law students; the point is that the Labor Standards Act has been amended several times since then...

2. It is really difficult to request leave. Even if you need to see a doctor, you can only take a few hours off.

During the Chinese New Year holiday, employees must coordinate with the company's auspicious opening date.

If the company opens on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, you must attend.

If the tenth day is considered an auspicious day to open, you can only remain on holiday until the tenth day before starting work. However, the extra days off will be deducted from your salary.

3. The year-end bonus is not issued until April, so you will not receive it until May, and it is less than one month's salary.

Work environment:

1. The company has air conditioning, but it is not turned on.

During the hot summer, the boss only turns on the air conditioner in her private office, leaves the office door open, and lets the cool air blow out so employees can get some air conditioning.

The air conditioner is not turned on in the morning. If you try to open the windows for ventilation so the office does not feel stuffy, you will be stopped, and the boss will say: “That will let hot air in.”

2. The boss often travels for work and attends exhibitions, but never takes a computer when going out. All work-related matters must be handled through messaging software, which is very inconvenient. When the internet connection is poor, business cannot be handled and delays occur, which then becomes the employee's fault.

The boss's only excuse is: “The internet connection is bad; there is nothing I can do.”

3. The company's manager and the manager in the United States are both the boss's sons. Therefore, whenever they make mistakes, it becomes the employees' problem because the employees supposedly failed to fulfill their responsibility to remind them.

Even when a supervisor places an incorrect order or loses samples, it is still treated as employee negligence.

4. The company has no training system. You have to find the answers yourself. The boss says she will teach you, and she really does teach you—but only after harshly berating you first.

Furthermore, the explanation is different every time, even when the situation is the same.

5. Arriving and leaving work on time: arriving on time is praised, but leaving on time will result in the boss constantly nagging you. But my work efficiency really is good...

The boss does not want you to leave on time because she wants to chat with employees...

6. You have to clean the office yourself, and cleaning is only allowed after work. You often have to move things.

Pros

Working hours are 9:00–18:00, with a one-and-a-half-hour lunch break.

Cons

The company has moved to Section 1, Civic Boulevard, Datong District. The female company owner is in her seventies and often travels for work; when she is in the office, she almost never stops talking and nagging. There is no overtime pay, no detailed salary statement, and the amount deducted is determined entirely by the other party. Labor insurance is reported at the minimum wage level. The rules state that annual leave can only be taken all at once and cannot be split up, so if you have seven days of annual leave, you can only schedule days 1–7 (yes, two of those days overlap with the weekend, and they will not allow you to split up your leave).

There are many practices that do not comply with the Labor Standards Act. If you take sick leave, you must provide a doctor’s certificate from a public hospital for the leave to be approved. However, sick leave cannot be taken during the three-month probationary period, so your full salary is deducted. The salary deduction for leave is calculated as follows: assuming a salary of NT$26,000 and 21 working days in the month, NT$26,000 ÷ 21 = NT$1,238 per day—not ÷ 30.

The owner verbally claims that things are for your own good, but in reality, she does not show consideration for employees.

The working atmosphere is poor, and the office is stuffy and inadequately ventilated. Anyone considering working for this company should think twice.
