Cons

I previously worked at this company. The owner did not manage the business; the owner’s wife was in charge. At first, she treated new employees well, but treated people who were about to resign or long-term employees poorly. I later learned that the owner’s wife had very poor emotional control and was always taking her anger out on employees—extremely explosively. Every employee was her emotional punching bag. Regardless of whether the matter was big or small, and even when it was unrelated to work, she would find ways to make things difficult. She treated new employees well because she was afraid she could not retain them, but the most senior internal employee at this company had only been there for about a year—not because the work was exhausting, but because of the mental torment. The owner’s wife wanted to control every single matter, big or small. Even the slightest mistake would result in her launching into a furious tirade—a completely humiliating kind of scolding!! She was especially difficult and verbally abusive toward employees who were about to leave.

During the application process, you are told that the company is well-established and complies with the Labor Standards Act. In reality, it does not comply with the Labor Standards Act at all. In the month you resign, your salary may be deducted arbitrarily, and you will not be compensated for unused annual leave. You will also be required to complete the handover until she finds a suitable replacement before you are allowed to leave. (A colleague was once required to spend nearly two months handing over their work before being allowed to leave.) The company never considers employees’ subsequent career plans; everything has to revolve around her.

We believe the work at this company is not easy at all. Heavy workloads can be overcome, but the daily mental torment and emotional manipulation are the real reasons people cannot continue working there. However, the owner’s wife is very domineering. She will tell you that this is simply how she is and that you have to get over it yourself. If you cannot, she will say that you are incompetent and provoke you at any time. She can tell you to walk out the company’s front door whenever she wants!!!
