Think twice before applying.
The boss and the boss’s wife like to meddle in hotel affairs but don’t understand the hotel business.
The boss would rather overbook every day and turn guests away than risk missing the chance to sell rooms that might possibly be canceled. One day, the front desk knew the hotel was already fully booked and had closed all the rooms released online, but the boss reopened them all to sell more. This resulted in overbooking more than ten rooms that day, turning away a bunch of walk-in guests and losing a lot of money.
One day, the boss even said, “It’s fine to overbook and turn guests away!” (Black person questioning meme❓)
Then the boss’s wife informed everyone about the overbooking via a Line group message. She claimed that the overbooking was caused by the front desk not monitoring online reservations, and said they would investigate orders from within the past seven days and require the front desk to pay the related amount.
(Her husband was clearly the one at fault, yet the front desk had to bear the responsibility? Very clever.)
Also, they like to communicate information via Line, including asking the front desk to make reservations, even though employees can’t really use their phones during working hours (?) and the front desk is busy nonstop. On the same day as another overbooking incident, a front-desk employee failed to update an order passed along by the boss’s wife. She didn’t follow up on the order either, causing two fewer rooms to be booked for her order that day. She directly berated the front-desk employee on Line and demanded that she cover the compensation for the guests who had to be turned away.
Guests often complain about mosquitoes in their rooms, yet the entire company had only two electric mosquito repellents. The team leader bought three more for guests and submitted a reimbursement request, but the boss refused to reimburse it? We do everything we can to prevent complaints, yet you keep pushing the blame onto the front desk? What is this supposed to be?
*As an aside, many new employees were driven away by the housekeeping team leader and the accountant. The housekeeping staff like to randomly yell at people, and because new employees aren’t familiar with the system, the accountant scolds people in the group chat whenever they make a mistake. You see Line messages before you even start work, and your mood immediately gets worse. They treat your personal Line account as a work tool.
The front desk staff and housekeeping are generally quite easy to get along with (except for the housekeeping team leader).
The housekeeping team leader loves to act like the boss and interfere in front-desk affairs, constantly trying to find ways to hassle the front-desk staff. Many housekeeping ladies and front-desk staff have already been unable to tolerate it and left.
Then there is a pretentious, aloof accountant who does not understand things but insists on acting like an expert. She thinks she is very capable, but in reality she is simply old-fashioned. She insists that everything requires forms and information, even though all the data is already in the system. When a new employee has been there for less than a week and encounters a problem or enters an order incorrectly, they will be woken up early in the morning by a barrage of angry LINE messages.
There are also a bunch of senior managers at this hotel who pretend to understand things they do not and do nothing upstairs except hassle employees. In reality, they are completely useless and merely occupy titular positions. They also love using LINE to send company messages and reservation information, while at the same time banning employees from looking at their phones during work hours. So how exactly are we supposed to help you make reservations? And when something gets missed, you say it is the front-desk staff's problem! Hello—those of you upstairs can also see the system, so use it and make the reservations yourselves, okay? Or do you all just sit upstairs watching the surveillance cameras and doing nothing? Then you always push all the responsibility onto the employees, even though you do not pay particularly high wages! No wonder you cannot retain employees and are constantly replacing them. Ha-ha.
