Pros

The environment is excellent—it’s right inside a shopping mall, there are lots of snacks that will make you gain weight, and the colleagues are all around the same age.

Before joining, I also saw online reviews that scared me half to death. Still, I gritted my teeth and thought I’d give it a try. After joining, I found that things were different from the reviews. Later, after getting to know my colleagues and asking them, I found out that there had been major changes in management, which led to significant changes in the policies and systems. So I get along quite harmoniously with my colleagues. We chat, gossip, and order takeout during work. Nowadays, it feels more like we’re expected to study independently. I really don’t know what happened to the previous management style. There is also no particular requirement to work overtime. Although clients sometimes drag things out past the end of the workday, the boss even urges us to leave work as soon as possible!

Cons

Drawbacks

Although this job has helped me build a lot of foundational skills despite having no prior experience, the pressure at the beginning was really intense, especially when the boss was watching over me ><

During project-closing periods, everyone is very focused on work and doesn’t talk much. We all just stare at our screens, so the atmosphere isn’t particularly lively. We also don’t really refuse clients’ every demand and provide too much beyond the scope of our services, which leaves us exhausted! But it’s still acceptable!

Pros

Located inside a shopping mall in Dazhi. The office space and location are quite good, and coffee and snacks are available for free. The colleagues are also easy to get along with!

Because there are only a few people!

There is a lot of freedom and flexibility at work; you just need to follow the boss’s instructions. The boss seems to have a lot of resources!

(There is no terrible manager mentioned in the previous posts! I asked around and heard that they had resigned!) I guess I was lucky!

Less than two months after I joined, the company happened to finish a project, and the boss treated us to high-end cuisine! It felt like I got a bonus!

Summary: I must have been pushed quite hard in my previous job, and I guess my abilities are pretty good too, since I could handle the things the boss assigned with ease!

I never worked overtime!

I resigned after working at this company for only four months because my immigration visa was approved. I felt a little reluctant to leave because I had developed some bonds with my colleagues, and the work itself had become so easy and familiar!

Cons

During my four months there, it was not as terrible as described in the previous posts (they were terrifying). Fortunately, I saw them only later; otherwise, I would not have dared to go to the interview!

Maybe it was because the terrible manager had left and the company had undergone a major personnel change!

I recommend it to people who are confident in themselves and prefer a high degree of autonomy at work; you can give it a try!

I do not recommend it for people without experience, because there is no training!

Do typical companies rarely provide training?

Pros

The interviewer was very professional and friendly. The office was spacious and new; I heard they had just moved in, so some things had not yet been put away, but overall it was okay.

Cons

The air conditioning was very cold during the interview.

Pros

Convenient transportation nearby (but they will be moving later)

Cons

The company’s transformation failed, and the boss doesn’t even seem to know what they’re busy with. They expect one person to do the work of several people.

Even if you want to resign, they will only try to retain employees they consider valuable. Even if you’re a long-serving veteran, if they want to get rid of you, they will use every possible means to force you to resign.

Design staff are also required to double as planners, social media editors, photographers, and event staff.

In addition, there are currently no holiday bonuses, year-end bonuses, year-end parties, or spring banquets. The boss will only pretend nothing is happening and refuse to inform anyone. It’s best not to join—run away as soon as you can~

Pros

1. Convenient location: It is only a one-minute walk from Taipei City Hall MRT Station. You basically do not have to worry about where to eat lunch, either, since there are plenty of places to eat within 500 meters of the company.

|

2. No make-up workdays: The company does not require make-up workdays. When everyone else has to make up work or school, the company remains closed.

3. Flexible working hours: There are two systems. 1. Flexible hours: You only need to arrive at the company before 9:30 a.m.; after working eight hours (not including the one-hour break), you can leave. 2. Arrive before 9:00 a.m.: If you do this consistently for a month, you receive a perfect-attendance bonus of NT$2,000.

4. The work environment is relaxed, and employees change into slippers when they arrive.

5. The boss is not often at the company (appearing two or three days a week).

Cons

1. Professional expertise is shown very little respect. The job title and the actual work differ greatly. For example, the design department also manages the company's Facebook page, helps develop marketing strategies, writes proposals for events, and writes scripts; the front-end web developer helps develop marketing strategies, handles internet bills, manages all the apps, and handles internet-related affairs.

2. Projects are often obtained through the boss's connections rather than by bidding against other vendors, so the company often takes on projects that nobody in the company is qualified to handle. For example, although this is an integrated marketing company, it took on a network information maintenance project. Apart from the front-end web work, the Android and iOS developers and the back-end web developer were all outsourced, while the only in-house front-end web developer inexplicably became the information PM for the entire project.

3. The boss often has sudden flights of fancy and expects subordinates to do whatever he happens to think of. If someone offers a different opinion, the boss strongly argues against it and insists that the entire project follow his direction. If the direction were good, that might be acceptable, but the boss's suggestions are often exactly the points the client rejects.

4. The boss often forgets what he has said, or suddenly asks how something is going even though he never gave any instructions in the first place. He frequently promises clients that the company can handle something, when in fact the company has no relevant talent.

5. In practice, your salary will not be adjusted after you pass the probationary period.

6. Regarding the lack of respect for professional expertise mentioned above: for example, the boss will suddenly act like a designer, deciding that the text in a design is too small or that the colors do not look good and that the client will not like it. In reality, these are usually just internal opinions; after making changes for ages, senior management has not even shown the work to the client and keeps changing it on its own. The final product ends up a chaotic mess and gets rejected by the client, after which responsibility is shifted to the frontline employees who carried out the work. After the boss gets criticized by the client, he no longer dares attend meetings with the client and instead pushes supervisors and frontline employees out to take the blame.

7. All of the projects the boss takes on involve working with his friends, but his friends basically just talk and do not want to take responsibility. In meetings with clients, they make incredibly grand promises, then afterward keep pressuring the company's frontline employees about when things will be ready. In reality, delivering on those promises requires outsourcing or asking other people for help because the company has no relevant talent. As a result, project execution cannot keep up with the deadlines set by the grand promises they initially made.

8. Senior management's attitude toward work is extremely careless. They often forget things or delay them until the last moment before the deadline. For example, tender documents that need to be sent to the government are deliberately not sent to the printer until just a few hours before the bid deadline; or only after an event is over do they remember that they forgot to take certain photos, then ask the design department to Photoshop vases, fans, water buckets, and so on into the pictures.......

Conclusion: This is suitable for fresh graduates just entering the workforce who want to give it a try. Here, you can learn how to deal with all kinds of people who do not want to take responsibility and how to handle all kinds of absurd workplace situations. It is also a suitable place to develop emotional management skills. However, if you come to this company hoping to learn professional skills, you will basically learn nothing. Even your motivation to study and improve yourself at home will be completely drained by the absurd things that happen at the company all day.

Pros

1. The company LINE group stays quiet on holidays (my former boss used to assign work via LINE on holidays)

2. Fairly flexible leave policy (request it one day in advance; if something urgent really comes up, notifying them first thing that morning is also acceptable)

Cons

1. Asymmetric internal information flow (only the manager who conducted the interview knows about newly hired employees)

2. New employees are left to fend for themselves: there is no employee training, and no manager provides guidance, so you have to figure everything out on your own

3. No clear allocation of job responsibilities (websites, products, events—all planning work is handled by a single planner because the manager does not know how to do it either)

4. Passive salary adjustment after the probationary period (if you do not bring it up, the company simply pretends to forget about it)

5. You are left to resolve work bottlenecks on your own (do not expect anyone to help, because the managers and boss do not understand either; discussing things with them leads nowhere)

6. The boss likes to make grand promises without recognizing the company's capacity, insisting on taking on projects that cannot be completed or have never been done before. As a result, the company repeatedly runs into obstacles and all kinds of problems during execution.

7. They frequently discuss topics that even senior managers do not understand. Although they have only worked in the travel industry, they like to find projects in areas such as the Internet of Things, apps, and e-commerce, leaving employees stuck in endless, unproductive discussions.

8. Roles are unclear (planners are expected to double as video screenwriters and write scripts and storyboards; frontline employees are expected to help define the scope and projects for the company's business expansion)

9. Suggestions for the company are usually not accepted because the boss is always talking about “learning,” saying: “Just treat everything as learning.”

Overall, this is an extremely strange company. The boss wants to transform the business but lacks the resolve to make a clean break and hire the right people. They want to build an e-commerce platform, yet not a single person in the entire company understands e-commerce, and they refuse to hire someone who does. Instead, they are willing to have all the employees spend an entire day brainstorming in the meeting room without reaching any conclusions. And rest assured, it is not just e-commerce—they handle other projects the same way. Not hiring anyone would be one thing, but there are not even opportunities for employees to learn. Here, you will not only fail to make progress, but will also struggle to accumulate practical experience. The added value is extremely low, so think carefully before joining.

Pros

1. Good location; transportation and dining are both very convenient.

2. The air conditioning is very strong, so you don't have to worry about sweating in the summer.

Cons

1. The company started out as a traditional print magazine and wanted to transform into an integrated marketing company, but the transformation failed.

2. It is very ambitious and wants to revive the company after it was hit hard by the pandemic, so it often tries to take on various government contracts. However, the company clearly does not have professionals with expertise in those fields.

3. When there is no one with expertise in a particular field, the company assigns that work to employees whose jobs are unrelated to it.

4. The company strongly advocates teamwork and brainstorming together, but in the end, employees are expected to do many things outside their own responsibilities. At this point, it's hard to remember what position I originally applied for.

5. The company often operates without any planning or prior assessment. It just says, “Let's try it first,” but is unwilling to provide a budget, so employees generally have to figure things out on their own.

6. You need to be fairly good at managing your supervisor's emotions, because when they are in a bad mood, they start losing control and throwing things, making the office very noisy.

Conclusion

If you are considering joining this company, you will need a great deal of patience and enthusiasm. Your opinions may not be heard, and when something goes wrong, you may be made the scapegoat. There are many incompetent people at the company, but if you challenge them, you may be labeled rebellious and disobedient. Basically, there is little prospect for a future or promotion, so don't get your hopes up too high.
