Pros

1. Because of the poor location and the company's old facilities, those who do not mind these things can expect a slightly higher salary.

2. The boss's caliber determines the company's ceiling. People with lower abilities can come here to make a living.

3. It does not matter if you are incapable of producing anything; as long as you have a good relationship with the boss, that is enough. Performance is not considered much.

4. If you happen to have a good supervisor, you may be able to last a little longer.

Cons

As mentioned above, the boss, who is well over seventy, has very strange ideas.

Management

1. The company has unwritten rules: no matter how much annual leave you have, you cannot take more than twelve days. Any remaining annual leave is paid out at the minimum wage, far below a day's wages. Often, annual leave requires the boss's approval; if it is not approved, you cannot take it.

2. The company's focus is in China, and it is more like a Chinese company. Taiwanese employees have to accommodate the China branch, and the product quality is the same. Perhaps because of this, the company can lay off Chinese employees without paying severance, and employees cannot sue the boss in Taiwan.

3. Overtime is rare, but if the boss requires overtime and you cannot work it, you may be forced to resign.

4. When the company toilet broke, they did not call anyone to repair it. They posted a signed notice prohibiting its use, and only came to their senses after more than a month.

5. The company's water tank once broke, and a pigeon died inside it. When it was discovered, the bloated carcass was as large as an ostrich. Everyone had been drinking the water.

6. The boss acts according to his mood; policies and orders can have several different versions within a single day.

7. Water outages, power outages, and flooding occur very frequently.

8. Work is distributed unfairly.

9. There are an absurd number of cameras. Every space except the restrooms can be seen, and at one point there were even cameras in the break room.

10. The company once underwent renovations. The entire floor was covered in dust and contained equipment that had not yet been installed, yet the boss, completely unaware of the situation, forcibly required the existing employees to return to their workstations. The employees had no choice but to clean everything up properly, only for the renovation workers to be dumbfounded: to complete the renovations, the existing employees had to move out again and then move back once more. Although he is the boss, he thinks management is the employees' responsibility; he only needs to spend money and watch people through surveillance cameras.

11. If the boss is unhappy with a document he personally signed, he will claim he never signed it, or even say that someone forged it. The same applies to things he has said. You may need to use recordings to deal with the boss.

12. When recruiting, the company advertises a high salary, then uses various excuses to reduce it, such as deducting the year-end bonus. The boss does not clearly understand the boundaries of the job responsibilities, is completely out of touch when discussing various matters, has absolutely no understanding of the problems encountered in how society operates or of a normal organizational structure, and answers questions about A with answers about B.

13. Some senior managers deliberately make things difficult for their subordinates. They intentionally give terrible methods; if you follow them, you get called an idiot, even though they themselves cannot do it. They simply use their power to display their sense of superiority.

14. Several long-term employees who had worked there for more than a decade were forced to resign after being casually lectured by a newcomer in front of the boss, and that newcomer did not advance either. It was not a matter of ability; the boss simply favors the new and dislikes the old.

15. The next generation, the boss's wife, and the boss often have differing opinions. They can easily determine whether employees stay or leave, spread rumors, or even create divisions between departments.

16. There are almost no employees aged 20–30, and few employees aged 30–40 either. It feels like they resent the younger generation.

Pros

Pros: The boss is very wealthy, so everyone can share in his assets. Most colleagues are kind and very patient.

Cons

If one were to seriously criticize this company’s biggest flaw, it would probably be that the boss, who is well past retirement age, is incompetent at management, narrow-minded, and poor at reading. In terms of severity, one could say he is somewhat like someone with dementia. For example, he once broke down and started yelling hysterically because a subordinate proposed a product quote that was too low. What exactly was there to break down about? If you think the price is too low for selling the product, just raise it. You set the price yourself—what was there to break down about?

Many people in this society like to inflate their own importance. Ordinary people, of course, are judged by the extent of their abilities, but this boss is the type who loves people more the more they brag. Lack of ability does not matter. There have been many people who get by in the company through infighting and backdoor connections, as well as people who joined by leveraging personal relationships. There have even been cases where people did no work yet inexplicably placed themselves on the same level as the boss, and the boss actually tacitly allowed it. He makes decisions entirely based on his mood and does not evaluate employee performance at all, spending more than ten times what other companies spend while earning one-tenth as much as other companies.

The boss has no ability to distinguish right from wrong. Many times, he even fabricates things out of thin air, approaching delusion.

If you are capable, you may have very bad luck here and have to clean up a lot of messes.

The boss lets other people manage recklessly, while also allowing himself to be confused, forgetful, impulsive, and unpredictable, making it difficult for those beneath him to get things done. The company has experienced waves of departures and layoffs. If you are considering joining, I sincerely recommend waiting until after a change in ownership.

By the way, the verbal abuse mentioned above is not merely the kind of reprimanding or lecturing one might expect. It is the kind involving extremely vulgar curses. The boss will endlessly repeat his insults, sometimes for an entire morning, and he even thinks this makes him very manly. So just think of him as a wealthy man with bipolar disorder and dementia. He once served as the head of the advisory team for Tainan City Council Speaker Kuo Hsin-liang, who was accused of soliciting bribes; what their actual relationship was, everyone can imagine for themselves.

Cons: There is no path for promotion, and pay is not necessarily increased gradually. There is no professional training, because the boss fantasizes, so you may be arbitrarily berated or told to resign. Internal infighting is common: veterans argue with newcomers, Taiwan argues with China, and different departments argue with one another. Those who are not good at fighting leave. The actual work differs from the position for which you applied.

Pros

None at all

Cons

In principle, it is simply a small family business with absolutely no systems in place.

The rules are different every day, with no consistent standards.

Amateurs instruct professionals.

When you use professional terminology, it is like talking to a duck listening to thunder—they do not understand, and may even get angry with you.

It is also not a job that gives you any sense of security,

because you could be saddled with completely nonsensical blame at any time, due to well-connected relatives who are very good at telling stories.

Then, at any moment, they may tell you not to come in the next day.

Also, at any time, they may tell everyone to go pull weeds.

They will check who did not go.

In addition, the overtime pay is completely noncompliant with the Labor Standards Act—less than the statutory minimum hourly wage for even one hour. It is a small company where filing a complaint with the labor bureau would be quite a spectacle.
