A trading company with a Western veneer. During the interview process, you may mistakenly think that the company has a promising future or that the work will be enjoyable.
You only find out once you are officially hired:
There is no process for properly onboarding new employees.
You are required to work independently, yet constantly micromanaged. Your work progress is ambushed and scrutinized at every turn. If your approach differs from what the boss wants, you will be repeatedly questioned and attacked. Even if you obediently follow instructions and things ultimately fail, it is still considered your own fault. They often reverse decisions at the last minute; even if you report back throughout the process, you may still end up with this result.
They are eager to restore past glory, but the family in charge is severely out of touch with the market and society. In reality, the company truly lacks the resources and capability to do so. Even when professionals are brought in, they are unwilling to trust them. They love making grand promises while wanting to operate for free on the scale of companies that invest heavily. In the end, all the new decisions amount to the same old failures in different packaging.
The few core internal employees have usually been with the company for eight to ten years or more. However, for people who join from other companies, being able to last a year is basically considered a long tenure!
Conclusion: The company’s culture is truly outdated, and it is probably difficult to turn things around. Even if you are thinking of watching the spectacle for entertainment, think carefully, because its “Western packaging” is the only trick it has left.
