Pros

You can gain process safety experience

Cons

If you are applying for a Process Safety/Asset Integrity Project Manager position, let me say this upfront: do not go there under any circumstances. It is a terrible place, and the turnover rate is very high.

1. The general manager, whose surname starts with K, has an extremely bad temper and speaks very harshly. He is highly business-oriented and will say anything that sounds good in front of clients, while ignoring the fact that the team’s staffing and experience are completely insufficient to handle the workload. As a result, projects are extremely difficult to execute. This manager can neither lead people nor manage effectively. Everyone has to accommodate him; he cannot accept other people’s suggestions and has an extremely strong need for control. Communication is basically conducted via Line, but he has absolutely no respect for working hours, asking about work-related matters late at night and frequently requiring meetings, including on holidays. As a result, many people have been driven away. Under no circumstances should you believe the empty promises he makes to employees.

2. The work location listed in the job description is false. In reality, you will visit client sites throughout Taiwan: Kaohsiung today, Yunlin tomorrow, Taoyuan the day after—basically traveling all over Taiwan. You will catch the first high-speed rail every day and only have a chance to return home on holidays, so you will spend a great deal of time commuting. You will basically never go into the office.

3. As soon as you join, you will be required to obtain a whole bunch of certifications and sign an agreement stating that if you leave before completing three years, you must fully reimburse the training costs. The prices are absurdly high: although the training is provided by the company itself, you will be required to reimburse the same training fees charged for external personnel.

4. You can apply for overtime pay, but it will never be approved.

Pros

This is a company with serious problems in both its systems and its employees (very fond of gossip, protecting their own, and helping relatives rather than upholding reason). The Equipment Integrity department is especially problematic. Not only does one senior manager have serious emotional-control issues (bipolar disorder) and use their authority to bully others with an extremely aggressive attitude, driving many people away, but there is also a department manager who is full of lies, returned from abroad, and cannot even read drawings. If you have a strong sense of justice or clearly distinguish right from wrong, I strongly recommend that you absolutely do not join this company...

Cons

There are no advantages. The salary is slightly higher, but you need to stay alive to receive it. You are only valued when the company needs you...
